(July 19) -- Joran van der Sloot, the Dutch native charged with killing a Peruvian woman and extorting money from the mother of missing U.S. teen Natalee Holloway, may have even more legal problems ahead.
Earlier this month, the National Enquirer reported on van der Sloot's alleged involvement in sex trafficking in Thailand. Now Peru's minister of justice has confirmed that Thai authorities are pursuing criminal charges against van der Sloot, according to CBS News.

During his own investigation in Aruba, Copus heard rumors that "girls were taken out of Aruba to be used in the sex trade," he said. "There was supposedly a guy from Chicago there, a reputed mobster, who has been quoted as saying that a good [sex slave] is worth a quarter of a million dollars."
Copus told AOL News that while there is a possibility that Holloway, if kidnapped, was sold into slavery, he doubts she would still be alive today.
"Usually they'll dope the girls up so they have no concept of what they are doing," Copus explained, adding that once the women are deemed no longer useful, they often are killed.
"There is another seedy business out there called the snuff trade, where they sell or trade recordings of actual murders," he said. "That's the final exploitation."

The reason it was hush, hush after WW2 was that the USA wanted the findings of these scientific experiments — so deals were made that if the scientists gave the US their journals, they would be given full immunity. The ones who were caught by Russian forces did not fare as well though (the Russians did not take kindly to their POWs and women inhabitants of Harbin, China being experimented on). There is no solid evidence but is highly likely that US POWs were also experimented on — of course, once you went in you never came out.
Google “Unit 731” and you will find some really interesting historical ducumentaries on the subject. If you can stand it, watch Philosophy of a Knife — sad part is, anything they depict in that movie seems to actually be based on the real place. Tens of thousands of people met their end there and if it had not been for the atomic bomb, the biological agents they developed were scheduled to be dropped on coastal cities of the USA in early autumn of 1945. Millions would have died in the US had this occured.
Wow...I knew nothing of biological agents at that time. Thanks for this information, I am definitely going to look into this.
That is an interesting thought...
"Mr. van der Sloot, your room is ready..."
Ever hear of the movie “Hostel”? The premise is rich people can pay to go to some Eastern European country and for alot of cash can have a rape/torute/murder vacation. The writer, Eli Roth said he had seen websites (plural!) that advertisd things like this and he was going to do a documentary about it, trying to find out if the sites were real or fake, but after some investigating, there were serious concerns about his safety, so he just did a gross-out horror movie version.
There have been many films made of sexual murders in this country, in fact many of these films have been used to convict murderers.
Charles Ng and his partner Leonard Lake filmed most of their female victims; these films were part of the prosecutions case against Ng. Lake committed suicide before he could be prosecuted. To this day nobody knows how many people these two killed together or in Lakes case, individually.
David Parker Ray with his girlfriend and partner Cindy Hendy, kidnapped women to violently torture and rape them - they taped the victims. Ray died his first day in prison and is considered the prime suspect in the murder of dozens of missing women in New Mexico. Hendy currently sits in prison and while she’s never admitted to taking part in any murders, she says Ray told her about many he had committed.
Paul Bernado and his wife Karla Homolka, kidnapped teenage girls, raped, tortured and killed them, almost all on were on tape. Bernado is serving a life sentence while his now ex-wife was released after serving 12 years. Karla made a deal with prosecutors to testify against her husband before the tapes were found. She assisted in the murders, including the rape and murder of her own sister. This case caused a huge controversy in Canada.
These are only a few examples of sadistic sexual serial killers who’ve taped their victims, there have been many others.
The Urban Legend is based on a supposed international group who kidnaps women to be tortured, raped and eventually murdered on tape and then places those tapes up for sale for rich men to buy. There has never been some underground group found that does this, hence the urban legend.
My point was really exactly what you said in your last paragraph. I'm not convinced that there is an international trade in these films. Those that exist seem to be made for the personal use of the murderer(s).
The article about Natalie Holloway mentioned "the snuff trade" and it is that "for-profit" aspect of this terrible practice that I believe to be an urban legend.
With all the horrible murders taking place in Mexico, I have to believe there's lots of illegal film coverage of many of them......
I don’t know how much credibility to give this report. We know the sex trade exists but adding the trade in snuff films is a bit sensational.
Until a real snuff film is found for sale from a group engaged in the sex trade, I’ll be skeptical about any report that claims someone is engaged in such practices.
“I think they were unwise to send her on a trip, unsupervised, outside of the US.”
You’re being too kind. They were irresonsible, negletful idiots. What were they thinking?!
Well, I was trying to temper my comments. I can’t argue with a word you said.
Personally, I never let either of my kids go on spring break trips.
If there's anything to tick someone off to deal with these slimeballs and ilk, it'd be something like that film clip.
Mr. Van der Sloot.
Check out those eyes.
I liked the movie, but the sad fact was that even in the movie, only one of the girls had someone coming to help them.
In real life, it's closer to "none".

My feelings exactly. Nornally I do not wish bad things to happen to others, but , in his case I will be glad to make an exception. Hell cannot be hot enough for him.
“Hell cannot be hot enough for him.”
Don’t worry.
I believe that Satan will be far more than this son of a b!#ch can handle.

Yea, it had some faults. But considering that I only find 3-6 movies a year that I bother to sit completely through, one that I've actually watched about four times on cable is definitely a cut above.
And sadly, it is apparently topical. This Vanderpoop guy needed to meet up with a father like Liam a long time ago.
