Mel Gibson's father, Hutton Gibson, a nutty autodidact with a sideline in Holocaust denial... [has] never forgiven the Vatican for lifting the charge of deicide against the Jews in 1964. Less well-remembered, perhaps, is the interview in which [Mel] announced that his wife of many years and the mother of his children would not, alas, be able to join him in paradise. It was not a matter of her moral character. It was simply that she had not seen fit to join the one true church. Her condemnation, then, was "a pronouncement from the chair."
“Right-wing Catholic Ideology” is something I have never been able to understand. I don’t see what’s conservative about claiming to be the only church. “Monopolistic-wing Catholic Idealogy” would be more accurate.
There are two kinds of churches — strong and pacifist.
Wherever the Catholic church or ANY strong church holds a monopoly, corruption seeps in. Pacifist religions can fight back a lot of corruption even with a monopoly, but they suffer from weakness.
