Who called you a moron? The first story out on this was Macular Degeneration, which I have. I’ve never heard of Macular Dystrophy. I will, as you suggest, look it up.

Nobody called me a moron, but I’d certainly have to be one to confuse macular dystrophy with muscular dystrophy because as you said, muscular dystrophy doesn’t have anything to do with one’s eyesight.

I provided a couple of different links earlier in this thread to information about macular dystrophy.

I was going to send this as a private reply, but decided not to. I heard it said some years ago that the only stupid question is the one not asked.

Okay then. Although I discovered this wonderful board some 2-1/2 years ago, I’m still such a newbie. Here’s my question - when I see someone post Ping, does that mean add them to the list or what? I asked my IT boyfriend awhile back what ping means. (big mistake - ever heard of someone who, when you ask them what time it is, explains the history of clocks???) He went into a long tech explanation of the internet and ether world, which I know isn’t meant here.

So don’t laugh - I’m still learning the lingo here on FR. (Having been a cheerleader in my school days) I thought for a long time that when someone posted Ping, it meant “high five”, “bravo” or similar.

There - I’ve admitted my ignorance for everyone to see! Hey, seems fitting in light of Glenn’s show today about telling no lies :-)) I love all of you FReepers, you’ve been, and continue to be, a shining light more than you know.

On Today's Program

40 days and 40 nights

Glenn has a to-do list for each and every person to take on leading up to the August 28th Restoring Honor Rally in Washington DC. Pray on your knees once a day. Covenant with God that you are going to stop telling lies - ANY lie. Do not tell an untruth - even to yourself! Think you can do these tasks and more like them? Glenn has more 'to do's' on radio today. ( Transcript, Insider Audio) Make the commitment to doing these things and sign the pledge of nonviolence  HERE.

Change: Freedom of 'worship'

In the Constitution, it's the ‘Freedom of Religion’. The President has quietly changed the wording of this phrase to 'Freedom of worship' which to some may seem like a matter of semantics, but Glenn says there is much more than just a word game. What difference can one word make? Glenn explains on radio today. ( Transcript, Insider Audio, FREE Insider Extreme clip)

All those who receive this email newsletter are eligible for signed copies of The Overton Window all week, and the grand prize winner gets Apple's iPad and more. Obama's assassination list?

A story that somehow slipped Glenn's radar screen - the President (according to the oh-so conservative Salon.com) has a "presidential assassination program," where "American citizens are targeted for killings far away from any battlefield, based exclusively on unchecked accusations by the Executive Branch that they're involved in Terrorism." This is particularly baffling coming from Obama, who complained about listening in on phone calls to terrorists. Now he wants to shoot Americans suspected of terrorism? Glenn explains on radio today. ( Transcript, Insider Audio)

“Ping” is the alert to call people on the list to a thread. As you can see I generally don’t use the term but instead post a comment to everyone on the list. In the case of the Beck TV thread its just a means of announcing that the thread has been posted and is active.

When someone posts “Ping” they’re simply calling others who asked to be “Pinged” to a thread.

Thank you. It sounds terrible! Much worse than what I have. And Glenn is many years younger than I am. I have a daughter older than he is. I doubt that Glenn has hit 60 yet. I will also pray for the healing of his eyes.

“Any kind of macular degeneration is irreversible. Let’s pray that he pulls this one out.”

Yes to the first statement, amen to the second. My dear dad has m.d. and it’s progressive. First in one eye (after what we believe was a botched laser cataract removal) and now recently diagnosed in the other. Like Glenn, one of his biggest loves has always been reading (and at 91, there aren’t a lot of things one can still do). Also, he’s nervous about driving, but of course doesn’t want to give it up. I know it eats at him even though he doesn’t talk about it. Breaks my heart. Yes, I pray Glenn is spared this, especially at his young age and his selfless, priceless contributions to our republic.

Oh no, he’s only 47, I believe.
