You may not like it, but racism is simply a derogatory term used to describe what in most cases is a natural inclination. Both animals and people typically give preference to their own kind, that is simply the way the brain works, probably to assist in the continutation of the species.

Ok, BUT, the federal civil rights commission, EEOC, etc., will sue your arse off, if you are white, and discriminate against a black. So while it might be natural for SOME to do so, it is against federal law. And, they have thousands of lawyers on staff to come after your arse if you do.

What this video shows is Shirley Sherrod admitting, as a public servant, no less, blatantly violating federal statutes.

If by “their own kind” you mean humans, then, yes, I give preferential treatment to humans over, say, cattle, pigs, or ducks. But if by “their own kind” you mean race, you have an evil shallow mind and need to do some serious soul searching. Judge people by the content of their character, not by the color of their skin.

Racism is not derogatory, it is a personal decision to accept the belief that your race is superior or inferior to another. Animals do not have the ability to reason as humans do, so comparing the two is ridiculous. Please give me an example where animals give preference to their own kind? Does a Pit Bull from Africa like or dislike an American Pit Bull? Does a Walrus from Siberia like or dislike a Walrus from Greenland? Humans have the ability to use logic and reason to make decisions that are abstract. Animals do not. This woman made choices based on the color of the farmers skin. If we assume that she considers all of us humans, color was her deciding factor in what she believed the outcome to her decisions would be. A tiger in the wild will eat a black man or a white man, it does not have a racist view on the matter, both colors of man will serve its purpose.

It is also the 'instinct' of the male to procreate with any desirable female he encounters, no matter the age. Unwilling participants were clubbed and drug away to the cave.

Just like blatant racism, we have laws against rape. Most people KNOW the difference between right and wrong and even though they may have initial 'instincts', they have a BRAIN with which to control those instincts.

This wasn't a black woman's reaction to first encountering a WHITE person. She is and educated professional who was supposed to be following the law and doing her job.

She CHOSE to take those 'tribal instincts' and ENHANCE them. To convince others to do the same.

That is the issue here.

Yes... and no. While adults exhibit this behaviour, little kids (toddlers) do not. They play, they don't, absent a language barrier or the influence of adults, notice skin color except as a curious difference, if then. Children pick up cues from adults which make them uncomfortable, but otherwise, the little ones do just fine.

Maybe it has something to do with the whole world being new and something to explore, of not having enough 'known' to distrust the unknown. In the absence of negative experiences, it is all just 'new'.

Xenophobia comes later. We learn it at our mother's knee.
