Leo DiCaprio is a known quantity, but do you get the impression Ellen Page was led or goaded into making her dumb comments after about an hour or so of interviewing?
Everything about her face and body language gave the impression she was desperate to please. I suspect it’s just possible the girl really is as guileless as she looks.
re: 1). I have heard there are indeed two Hollywoods. The Hollywood of the “creatives”, i.e. the directors, actors, producers, screenwriters and composers and then there is the Hollywood of the journeymen, i.e. everybody else: the carpenters, cameramen, prop meisters, plasterers, electricians, grip men, and so on.
The two worlds rarely meet, save on the set, as when Christian Bale had his famous rave-out.
I still think the best movie in the genre is the old original: 1984’s “Dreamscape” with Dennis Quaid, Kate Capshaw, Max Von Sydow as the perfesser and Eddie Albert as The President.
I think “Nightmare on Elm St.” cribbed a good deal from the concept the movie explores.
DiCaprio was on one of my flights once. He was not friendly nor engaging nor charismatic. He was small and slight of stature. He does have pretty eyes, but other than that, the only word that comes to mind is "unimpressive."
I guess falling asleep at the movies isn’t very romantic, but it was my only escape. I remember when going to the movies was strictly for ‘smooching in the balcony’. Things sure do change after 30 years of marriage!
Mrs. panax received a gift card for her birthday from one of the boys and we didn’t have much to choose from. Popcorn was $8.00 for a bucket about 10” high and 8” wide. Candy was $4.50 each, so we shared a small box of Junior Mints. The candy police patrolled through about every 10 minutes with his flashlight checking to see if anyone brought in their own goodies. Tickets were $11.50 each. About a fourth of the viewers walked out midway mumbling to themselves.
It pretty much confirmed to us that we are now living in some sort of parallel universe. We don’t come off our mountain much these days.
Again, I have to stress that this could have been one of the WORST movies I have ever seen in all of my 59 years. Mis-cast, lousy directing and a story that made no sense whatsoever.
I’ve downloaded and no problems. If they did pick a fight, I would make their lives a misery.
Go to Kickass. The quality is perfect. Even when it’s made into full screen from the small screen that the window opens to.
Your post makes me laugh at least you were in good company
and were able to share some down time and junior mints :) and another perk no Obama on the screen for at least 2 hours or so :)
Yet another Hollywood product I won’t have to spend money on ...
Yeah. Complaining about “spreading fear” and “causing problems”. While she herself spreads fear, and causes problems.
She looked like she was just repeating something she overheard.
Twit.
Interesting how two people can come out with totally different impressions of a movie. I thought the casting and directing were great and the story was interesting and left me thinking when I walked out.
You are actually the first person I have run across that didn’t like it. Most I have talked to have said it is by far the best they have seen this year. In addition, many, like me, intend to see it at least once more.
I wont miss anything.
“Again, there are these outspoken nuts who day in and day out bash middle America.”
Those nuts run Hollywood.
Those nuts run the media.
Those nuts run academia.
The left controls all of these institutions.
These moron actors spout leftist garbage because they have been trained like seals to bark on command. if they did otherwise, their careers would be kaput.
It’s irrelevent that some conservatives quielty work in hollywood, anymore than people were quietly opposed to communism under the soviet union.
Save Dr Ken (university of Illinois, look it up).
“Go to Kickass. “
The movie? Are you kidding. That was a dreadful, dreadful movie. It was like a bad imitation of Tarantino and I dont like tarantino even when he ‘good’. Awful and degrading.
Decaprio is a good actor I just wish he would keep his azz clown comments to himself.
Will Ferrel really sucks, besides Jack Black I don’t know anyone that sucks as bad as him. Maybe Adam Sandler who ruins every one of his movies by forcing the gay agenda on us straights.
LOl, I actually forgot how MORE overrated Jack Black really is. And I might agree with you on the fag agenda: Chuck and Larry was pro-homo, so’s Zohan.
“I enjoyed “Inception” because of the story. It entertained me far more than the politically-infested overkill of “Avatar”. I enjoy being entertained, not preached to.”
Well, there is that... Avatar was positively annoying with its preachy liberal tree-hugging metaphors.
Good to know. Another flick that will not be netted.
Oh Please!
It is very relevant that many, many conservatives work hard in the entertainment industry and just work. They don't run their mouths about their opinions on things that don't have anything to do with their profession.
The industry is not just made up of actors, directors and producers.
There are cameramen, lightening experts, make-up artists, drivers, stunt men, food service....the list goes on and on.
A lot of good people working hard and not sucking on the govt. teat.
What the hell is wrong with that?
There are many good movies made by good people.
Stop making wide sweeping statements about an entire industry.
There are many crappy, stupid entertainers who can't keep their opinions to themselves. But many do not.
If that is how you judge entire industries then may I suggest you live your life as a hermit.
As for me, I will judge these people individually and make my decisions to spend my money based on that.
SHE WAS GOOD IN JUNO. HOWEVER WHEN SHE MAKES OFF THE CUFF COMMENTS ABOUT PALIN AND CHENEY, IT ONLY PROVES HOW STUPID THESE HOLLYWOOD IDIOTS ARE WITHOUT A SCRIPT!
If not for the uneducated, ignorant young people, Hollywood wouldn’t have an audience.
