The NAACP vs. the Tea Party
Townhall.com ^ | July 17, 2010 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 07/17/2010 4:25:37 AM PDT by Kaslin

According to NAACP President Ben Jealous, the tea party is chock full of racist people bent on harming African-Americans. Speaking at the organization's annual convention this week, Jealous let loose on the tea folks: "Here comes the genetic descendent of the White Citizens Council, burst from its coffin, carrying signs and slogans like 'Lynch Barack Hussein Obama'..."

An exhaustive search of media reportage on the tea parties turns up no mention of signs like that. And even if they existed, is it fair to demonize an entire movement because a few nuts are associated with it?

Does the NAACP want to be evaluated on that basis?

From the beginning of its ascent, the tea party has been targeted by the far left in America. They fear the populist movement because of its small-government philosophy and its successful activism. The cheapest, easiest way to attack any political opponent is to level accusations of bigotry. Almost every conservative broadcaster and columnist in America has been subjected to that.

The NAACP picked a bad time to brand the tea party with the racist label. Recently, the New Black Panther Party has been in the news because the Justice Department declined to prosecute a case in which three of its members apparently intimidated voters at a Philadelphia polling place. One DOJ lawyer even quit his job, saying he was ordered not to pursue the case because it involved race.

In response to the story, a number of New Black Panthers have been shown on TV saying incredibly bigoted things. NBPP member King Samir Shabazz even suggested that black Americans kill white babies. This is on tape. Obviously, racial bigotry cuts both ways.

It is true that there's a big difference between the tea party and the NBPP. The tea people have quickly become a potent political force in America, while the NBPP is few in number and brain cells. If it were just about the Panthers, the story would be meaningless. But because Attorney General Eric Holder is involved in the dismissal of the criminal charges, the situation takes on some importance.

One of the weaknesses of the NAACP is that it has rarely acknowledged black racism. The organization is silent on the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan. Yet, it is outraged about the tea party. There might be something hypocritical about that.

It is long past time for all Americans to drop the skin color deal. President Obama was smart and correct when he ran as an American, not as an African-American. The president made one misstep -- involving himself in the Cambridge police-Harvard professor controversy -- but otherwise has steered clear of racial politics.

The NAACP, however, is obviously not as astute as Obama. By saying the tea party members are sympathetic to racism when proof of that is scant, the organization has defined itself as irresponsible. America's motto continues to be: Out of many, one.

Don't tread on that.

The NAACP? That's an organization that has out-lived its usefulness, much like the National Association of Buggy-Whip Manufacturers. Or NASA, which used to be a space agency; but now that the Obama administration has parked the space shuttle fleet and decided that we are not going to go anywhere, there's no reason for NASA to stay on.

But this must be how the NAACP can pretend that it's still relevant. Too bad Jesse Jackson has slowed down enough to have to pass the race-baiting baton to the next generation; at least he took the time to make it rhyme.

The NAACP seems to have 0 problems with violence perpetrated by the New Black Panther Party. It also supports turning Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch into a California state park.

As far as I am concerned, this organization, which supports violent racists as well as child molesters, deserves no respect from us.

According to me, the NCAAP is chock full of racist people bent on harming White Americans.

His whole agenda is racial politics. Someday, during his autopsy, it will be discovered that he doesn't have a white bone in his body.

O'Reilly is out-doing himself with efforts to downplay Obama's racist side:

The organization is silent on the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan. Yet, it is outraged about the tea party. There might be something hypocritical about that.

Gee, Bill, ya think?

It is long past time for all Americans to drop the skin color deal. President Obama was smart and correct when he ran as an American, not as an African-American.

Are you kidding? Obama's race was the overwhelming reason he won, it played right into liberal racial guilt.

The president made one misstep -- involving himself in the Cambridge police-Harvard professor controversy -- but otherwise has steered clear of racial politics.

Uh, yeah, Bill, whatever you say.

This crap is why I never watch O'Reilly.

I was watching Hannity or Glen Beck (not sure which show this came from) but basically they said that the NAACP was founded and started by Caucasians. That was a rather surprising bit of information.

The rich “limo liberals” as we know, own most of the media and the education system. They know to keep power they must “divide and conquer”. They constantly push us apart on race, class, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

Hollywierd and big media are good story tellers (that’s what they do!), and they manipulate and amplify emotions on any perceived injustice always along class and ethnic lines. By keeping us off balance and always pushing collective group identities, we scrap with each other over the crumbs they allow us to keep. Sadly, they have a large, mostly minority, portion of the population always in an uproar, and on a hair trigger… (that’s what the whole protest Arizona thing is about). When you’re angry, you don’t think so clear! They keep “their” people dependent on government handouts, always assert that the “evil” conservatives are going to take it away, and they will starve. “Their” people must always be herded together and insecure(ghettos and don’t teach them English!)… sorta like on big city plantations.

The biggest fear of is we wake up to their deception, and unite on common ground. The “Tea Party” movement scares the hell out of ‘em. Hence the NAACP’s trumped up and vicious charges of racism now leveled (keep us divided!). The “race card” has been a huge success, why stop now! Sure, there’s no proof to support their accusations, but the dirty little secret… none needed! Ole Joe Goebbels would be envious... Resist!

I heard a black Tea Partier sum it up quite nicely: NO ONE was even interested in the NAALCP until they attacked the Tea Party....it’s like using Sarah Palin’s name to sell your story.....and just as transparent....

There are more black people in the Tea Party than whites in the NAACP.

The president made one misstep -- involving himself in the Cambridge police-Harvard professor controversy -- but otherwise has steered clear of racial politics.

ONE misstep?

How about telling his attorney general to drop the case against the NBPP, and not to prosecute any civil rights cases where whites are the victims of blacks?

Does o'goofball think that holder made these decisions on his own?

How about all of the racially biased favoritism hidden in massive, complex, and purposefully vague bills, like the current financial reg bill, that, I understand from listening to Fox News, has language that mandates that women and MINORITIES (read that, LIBERAL BLACKS) be on boards/committees.

And what group of people does bill think most of the forced spreading of our wealth, by this Socialist administration, is targeted towards?

Though bill gets SOME of it right, as usual, when it comes down to it, he is a useful idiot for the man-child president.

Despite overwhelming evidence of just what this Socialist wannabe-dictator is up to, o'dumbo still gives him the benefit of the doubt, especially where issues of race are concerned.

Apparently, bill is willing to ride the popularity coattails of GLENN Beck, but doesn't agree with Beck on the plain and simple truth - Hussein is a RACIST.

That was not a ‘misstep’, that was Obozo being Obozo.

President Obama was smart and correct when he ran as an American, not as an African-American.

YEAH, RIiiiiiight bill!

Yet MORE O'dumbo naivete, stupidity, and ignorance.

Hussein spoke DIFFERENTLY, in his best ghetto preacher cadence, tone, and skreet language, when speaking to potential black voters. The MESSAGE was also different when he spoke to blacks than when he spoke to whites. What OTHER presidential candidate has done that? NONE other I would BET.

Hussein also initially sided with the blatantly racist "Rev" Wright, and additionally, the "black" side of Barry threw his white grandmother under the bus.

Barry is RACIST through and through, and if you can't see it O'goofball, then you are stupid, or intellectually dishonest.

You raise an interesting question. What if the Tea Party has more black members than the NAACP? It is possible. If the T party has 1% of population or 3 million people and 13% are black (the same percentage of those are black as in the general population) then the T party would have 390,000 blacks who would identify themselves with the T party- a number that would compete with the total number of NAACP members.
