Congressman Mike Castles support has fallen below 50% for the first time in his race with Democrat Chris Coons for the U.S. Senate in Delaware.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Delaware finds Castle with 47% support, down eight points from late April. Coons gets 36% of the vote, his best showing to date. Six percent (6%) favor some other candidate in the race, and 11% are undecided.
In April, Castle held a 55% to 32% lead over Coons.
Prior to this months findings, Castle has earned between 53% and 56% of the vote in surveys back to January. Support for Coons has ranged from 27% to 32%.
Castle, a popular longtime Republican GOP congressman, received just 47% support last October matched against state Attorney General Beau Biden, but Biden made the surprise decision in January not to enter the race. Coons, a county executive who has not previously sought statewide office, entered the race at that time, but Castle has been considered the heavy favorite since then.
Delaware has been rated Solid Republican in the Rasmussen Reports Senate Balance of Power rankings but on the basis of this survey shifts to Leans Republican.
Castle is being challenged in the states September 14 GOP primary by conservative activist Christine ODonnell. Coons runs virtually even with ODonnell who picks up 41% of the vote to the Democrats 39%.

This is a race we can make a difference in. If you want a real conservative and not just another old liberal Republican then here is your chance to make a difference. If you support Sharron Angle and Support Rand Paul and those like them then here is the opportunity for a big Tea Party win. The Tea Party Candidate winning Joe Biden's seat now that is an accomplishment.
Christine O'Donnell for U.S. Senate Fighting For The First State
A WIN for a conservative Senatorial candidate is a WIN for us all, no matter what state we live in.
Send Christine a few dollars. She needs us, and we need her.

yet another good looking conservative woman
It’s getting to where there are so many of them popping up that the left doesn’t know who to hate.
I heard Christine O’Donnell being interviewed on radio by Mark Levin a few weeks ago. She is a Reagan conservative, articulate and she has her facts and figures at the ready when she speaks. Her web site is worth a look.
You have that right and this is a great opportunity. This will be a flip from a reliable liberal to a reliable conservative. Mike Castle is just horrible. The Ras numbers show their is no need to send in another clown to replace Biden. This November the Circus leaves town.

That’s a big frickin’ deal.
The important thing now is that the excuse that she can’t win is a hollow one. DeMint, Palin, Huckabee, and others should endorse her.
Are there any polls showing how she’s faring against Castle? The article says the primary is September.
Bump to the top!
I smell a Sarah Palin endorsement and campaign appearance!
The more targets the media has the more difficult it is more them to settle on one and be effective.
O’Donnell really should be the nominee, and this O’Donnell vs Castle race really should get a lot of national attention.
Go, O'Donnell!!
Thanks for the info. I’m going to send a little financial support.
So much wonderful news!
I don’t believe they have had a conservative since John Williams unless you count Bill Roth, who was not too reliable but better than the other DE pols. I once thought that DE was the most Tory state in 1776, but someone on this forum told me I was wrong because of Caesar Rodney’s war efforts.
Palin can endorse, but when she debated Biden she had a chance for a grand-slam, and she backed away just like her ticket-mate did in his debates.
