You know you hit on something saying it that way. While we all sit here and cry out woe, woe, woe and whoa! One must contemplate why?
If my tax dollars are going to be used for medical care for someone who refuses to change bad habits...is not the government just making that denial in the best interest of the taxpayer? To deliver those funds to someone more deserving?
Why do we have such an aversion to rationing in this manner?
I think it is something in our biblical upbringing about ...not judging a person. With the government healthcare the government must ...judge on behalf of the taxpayer. The government becomes godlike. The problem is with that role given over to the government...history demonstrates the great evil that is forthcoming from such situations.
People who get lots of speeding tickets. People who drink more than the government approves of, skateboarders and rock climbers, people with sit down jobs, people in jobs dealing with hazardous materials, firemen and police, soldiers, miners and loggers, people who eat more salt and sugar than the government deems safe, people with risky voting habits (you know, conservatives)
Just think of all the cows that can be milked to care for the chosen few.
“With the government healthcare the government must ...judge on behalf of the taxpayer. The government becomes godlike.”
Yep, democracy always leads to socialism, socialism always leads to fascism. That is the brilliance of being a representative republic that is supposed to protect individual liberty and freedom.
