It is no secret that the Obamas are advocates for free handouts, but even in her personal life Michelle Obama does not appear to have shied away from accepting free goodies. Numerous news outlets have reported on the first ladys proclivity for high fashion. And Mrs. Obamas pricey tastes have not precluded her ability to wear the outfits over which many women drool.
Rumors abound as to exactly how the first family obtains all the pomp and frills associated with Mrs. Obamas wardrobe. Do the Obamas pay for it all themselves or are the first ladys outfits given to her gratis? As with most things, it appears the answer lies somewhere in the middle.
Ikram Goldman, owner of the Chicago boutique Ikram, manages the majority of the first ladys sartorial needs. Any designer wishing to dress Mrs. Obama must first go through Goldman, who remains exceedingly tight-lipped as to her dealings with the first lady. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Goldman donated $6,900 to Barack Obamas 2008 presidential campaign, yet it is unclear whether Mrs. Obama pays for her services.
True to form, Goldman has yet to respond to any of The Daily Callers myriad attempts to contact her.

Because Michelle is our Queen. Bow, comrade.
It wasn’t a dress. It was a 695.00 tank top and white pants. Stupid or poking fun? I would say both.
The Wombat Wookie needs no explanation. She hates America, she needs to get the F out. (and I don’t think even Laz would hit it.) Zimbabwe here we come!
Don’t I recall something about Sarah Palin’s wardrobe being some kind of scandal? Why isn’t this?
good will bin? LMAO!!! good one.
Let me start by noting that I just can’t stand the Obamas, either politically or personally. In many ways, they remind me of the Jeffersons, but without the essential humanity. They’ve moved up town, and they enjoy the benefits of royalty.
That said, I don’t care about the details of Michelle’s wardrobe. It seems accepted that First Lady’s act like dressing dummies for the haute couture designers if they want to. I’m more bothered by their extravagant trips, and by the pronouncements about how we should conduct our lives than by Michelle’s bad and expensive taste in clothes. Sure, she wears belts that look like chic suicide vests, but I don’t care if she pays for them.
I don't either. But, I don't believe that's the import of the story, nor is it the reason why I posted it. The story illustrates the questions surrounding the acquisition of her wardrobe. It perhaps sounds like a trivial matter, but in point of fact, these dresses and accessories (shoes, belts, bags etc), can cost in excess of $10K an outfit.
It begs the question, where is this money coming from? Are any favors being given in exchange for the clothes? Are the requisite disclosure forms being completed? And finally, are taxes being paid on the clothes that are received "gratis", per IRS regulations.
This isn't about Michelle Obama's wardrobe and fashion sense. It's about transparency - or lack thereof - in her husband's administration.
He has Mark Dayton eyes.
Or oil on whitey.
Isn’t that 0bama’s ahem...’private male friend?’
Reggie Love
As was Mrs. Reagan and Jackie Kennedy.
Well, you see, you are udner the mistaken impression that Ms Obama IS actually paying for her clothes. (There is no charge for pulling them directly from the Goodwill dump box ... before Goodwill themselves pulls the clothes out and cleans it.
So, you're sayin' not only are they hideous, but they're also covered with drool?
Michelle Fashion Police Alert Ping!
FReepmail GOP_Lady if you want on or off this ping list
It IS an oil spill dress. How tacky!
WASHINGTON - JULY 14: First lady Michelle Obama (R) and Dr. Jill Biden attend an event about the Affordable Care Act at George Washington University Hospital July 14, 2010 in Washington, DC. Hospital employees also attended this event, including Inger Mobley, left, Clinical Manager of the Breast Care Center. Obama pointed out new regulations in the Affordable Care Act that will require new health plans to cover the cost of preventive screenings for diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.
Can we call her Icky for "short"?
You are kidding? Right?
