It was 3:30 PM in the afternoon when the guy turned the key. We had been formatting since 8 AM. 16 dual port IPI drives. The sad part is that all of the drives were defective. Seagate forgot to install the filters. Over a period of a few weeks, every drive crashed as contaminants made it inside. We pulled all the drives and checked against the serial numbers. All bad. They had to be physically disassembled and the platters dropped in acid due to the classified data on them. What a goat rope.

Now that is Ugly....

You don't have one of those giant Degausser's?

I think that is what they were called at a classified installation I was a Tech Rep on...

Actually never saw it used though.( That was a number of years ago.)

I just heard they had some way of taking care of those kind of problems.
