A 20-year-old U.S. citizen was stopped at the U.S.-Mexico border crossing in Andrade on Saturday with two machine guns strapped to the engine of his pickup. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the crossing near Yuma, Ariz., noticed that the driver of the truck appeared nervous and stopped his vehicle for a closer inspection. When they popped the hood, they saw the guns, which were attached to the engine with plastic zip ties. They also found 680 rounds of ammunition...
Also found was two boxes of machine gun ammunition links, used to fashion an automated belt for the machine gun ammunition.
The vehicle, weapons and ammunition were seized. The driver, a resident of El Mirage, Ariz., will face criminal charges and was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcements Border Enforcement Security Task Force....

If we dont reverse the Anchor Baby law....retroactively....were done.
No. You are wrong. For a year now, CBP has been ordered to check for weapons going INTO Mexico. It is annoying to me that manpower which should be used to stop illegals and drugs coming into our country is used to secure Mexico.

And the guy was going INTO Mexico.

See number 22
My mistake, haven’t been sence ‘98.
Great photo — please explain. Who-what-when-where-how. Is it you?
No, he was going into Mexico. See post No. 22.
I’m sure that he bought those at a local gun shop or a recent gun show. The BATF will probably start raiding gunshops and gun shows to put a stop to this.
Oops, my bad. Some editor is going to lose his job. He missed his chance to whine about “loopholes”.
He should have doone what the Jackal did in the “Day of the Jackal”. Cut out a piece of his exhaust and hidden the parts in the piping.
Interesting collection. Looks like someone's private stash of WW2 war trophys. Guns that old should have long since been on the BATF list.
If I recall correctly, 8mm is shorthand for the 7.92 German round, and I wonder if those 280 7.62 rounds are 7.62X54R. You have to wonder who there were stolen from, or, if when Granddad died, Grandma called the sweet young guy from down the street, the one with all the friends in his yard every night, and asked if he wanted them...
Well, it seems that the reporter has a reading disability. I went to the DHS website and their press release says very clearly that the guy was going into Mexico. So she blew her chance to write about loopholes, and her editor did too. :)
Given the hoplophobic nature of journalists, they very well could have been semi-auto 50-cals, and they wouldn’t know the difference. I can’t see a self-fire lever in the picture.
Me either. ;)
Somehow I think that if the guy were Caucasian this would already be national news.
Sorry, select-fire, not “self-fire”.
Anyone taking non-stolen ammo from the US to Mexico is an idiot. Ammo is CHEAP south of the border, and with the right connections, anything from COMBLOC nations, including auto-cannons, machineguns, explosives, etc.
However, these are DOTGOV types that wouldn't know if these were actual Title 2 machineguns, whether legal or not, or what I think, the semi-automatic clones for those that don't want to spend $30,000 + for legal, transferable MG-42s and a Russian Goryunov SA43.
I keep seeing semi-auto belt feds at gunshows and get damn tired of seeing people call them "sheengunz" when in fact, they are perfectly legal, faux, semi-automatic boat anchors.
Now, now...are you profiling?...;)
