I have a simpler reason. Middle America vacations at the Gulf. You know those NASCAR loving types from flyover country -- people who actually drive in a car to their destination spot.
Our glorious leaders need to be seen in places like Carmel, and Vail and Martha's Vineyard where the more affluent and erudite elements of society congregate.

I’m glad they’re not coming down here, playing while so many others are struggling to survive....they would be a distraction, and besides, I’d rather be able to bash him for not being there, regardless of the reason. So, pResident 0, take the family anywhere but the gulf.
