It's interesting to try to divine the chicken-and-egg of Mel Gibson's firing by WME last week: Was it his (first-alleged, now aurally proved) misogynistic and racist comments that enabled the agency to part ways with him, or was it the death of longtime agent Ed Limato that did the trick?
Earlier today the news surfaced that William Morris Endeavor had split with Gibson last week-- as Limato lay seriously ill, and just several days after Radar Online broke the news that Gibson had verbally abused his girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva by using the N-word. (The reports were just that until today, when audio of the Gibson incident was released on Radar.)
There's of course a third variable in all this -- the fact that Gibson just wasn't much of a bankable star anymore anyway.

Just saying the MSM didn't declare his career over.
Yes, and they will continue to do so if they are decent movies... These kind of interludes are great for those in Hollywood and followers, but mostly - who cares what these idiots do...
He has even shared that he has contemplated suicide on occasion, this is proably a medical issue and being in *Hollywood* as a practicing *Catholic* with bipolar is a deadly mix.
Actually, Gibson's "Edge of Darkness" made $79 million this year.
Listen to the tape
But cost $87 million to make.
How is Michael Richard’s career doing these days?
Or is Michael Richards another Hollywood Conservative who was destroyed due to the words he used?
So you don’t know?
Many do forget that...but it did happen.
Some say $60 M.
Again..Is Mel Gibson a racist? a Anti-Semite? IMHO NO...I know plenty of good people who have said derogatory words in private... not because they hate the race, but because for many it’s people ridding themselves of frustration. I assume that is why the F-word is used in the heat of an argument....
Racists Anti-Semites and true Bigots are out there, when you apply those terms to anyone and everyone in what they say out of anger, drunkeness, and frustration the meanings become meaningless.....
You think Rev Wright or the Black Panthers or Islam sympathizers are villified, for what they say about the White Christian race? Of course not.. We have a President that makes excuses for the USA to the Muslim World...
Let’s get a grip now, or at least a reality check.
Just because Gibson produced Passion of the Christ does not give him a pass on his offensive actions since then.
It’s really sad to watch Gibson self-destruct. Whatever his problems are, I hope he finds a way through them.
He made a mint on Passion, so he can probaly still produce a few movies on his own.
Gibson has charisma on screen and given the right storyline, he will still be a big star. IMO.
Sorry, I see little difference between the words of Rev Wright and the words of Mel Gibson.
Denzel Washington, he was even asked by Studie Exec’s to tone down the Bible stuff in the *Book of Eli* Denzel said he would not...
Never fear, trumandogz is here ... to invariably and without fail argue any issue from the left.
I can’t figure out why the heck you’re on FR, other than being some sort of token like MurryMom.
What's he need credibility for? He's a producer/director. He makes a good film, I'll buy it.
Again...like I've said numerous times...very few are giving him a pass.
But for the media to declare his career over because of bad words said? Silly.
Can you please define the term "sex addict"? and for that matter "sex" in the context of "sex addict"?
For example, is a sex addict in LA also necessarily a sex addict in (say) Augusta, Georgia? or Rochester, NY? Or vice versa? If so, why, and if not, why not, and what makes the LA social scene special-- if not sex?
I'm not sure what this has to do with racism, but these question may be asked.
:-)
