Mel Gibson's mainstream Hollywood career is over -- for real, this time
L.A Times ^ | July 9th, 2010

It's interesting to try to divine the chicken-and-egg of Mel Gibson's firing by WME last week: Was it his (first-alleged, now aurally proved) misogynistic and racist comments that enabled the agency to part ways with him, or was it the death of longtime agent Ed Limato that did the trick?

Earlier today the news surfaced that William Morris Endeavor had split with Gibson last week-- as Limato lay seriously ill, and just several days after Radar Online broke the news that Gibson had verbally abused his girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva by using the N-word. (The reports were just that until today, when audio of the Gibson incident was released on Radar.)

There's of course a third variable in all this -- the fact that Gibson just wasn't much of a bankable star anymore anyway.

His writing style is like stuartcr, only more annoying. That’s one statement I never thought I would post!

actually I thought Jonathan Rhys Myers (who just did a great 4 years as Henry VIII on Showtime's The Tudors) was really a standout in RWTD as the burned out souless irregular and that last scene when he and the other guy approach Jewel, the black guy who was believable and Spiderman in that bar pit depression where they are camped and you think he mighty go murderous on their former comrades trying to salvage their lives at the end of a lost war was so telling....

Jewels heaving breasts were actually the highlight of the whole movie...you know that is the same guy who gave us Brokeback Mountain..lol

It’s defending his right to *Privacy* If I want to say the N-Word in my house all day long that is my buisness.

You must be using that to cover your acceptance of racism.

If someone is such a racist that they use the phrase "pack of N-words" in personal conversation, one day a neighbor or a coworker will hear such.

Not only that, fame has a price. That price is privacy. I would not choose fame for myself because the cost is too high for me. If someone could photograph a famous person blowing their nose, getting out of an uncomfortable car, or peeing, they would. Mel consistently says the most racist, hateful things, all while knowing people are surrounding him wanting juicy tidbits of his life. He CHOSE fame.

There is NO GOOD REASON for Mel's behavior to be excused on FR. It is personally saddening to me that some here do. (I am not talking about just praying for him, though saying simply that while not excoriating his words and deeds still sounds sympathetic.) The fact that the left over-calls racist at every turn does not mean that there are not true, hateful racists. And Mel Gibson is one.

“Would you like me to point out all of the posts in which you’ve expressed bias and loathing against the United States and in favor of thuggish third world dictatorships?”

Please stay on topic. You stated that I said that “only white, American Christians practiced slavery.”

Now, please show me where I said that “only white, American Christians practiced slavery.”

Not one person on this board agrees with slavery.

The point is that you are a liberal race baiter and don't believe America has paid a debt for something that has gone on since the beginning of time in all the world. That is not a statement that an American would make. But a liberal race baiter would.

Keep dancing.

Anyone who agrees with Rev Wright is annoying. And dangerous.

“Hillary Clinton said something similar. Perhaps this qualifies Mel Gibson for a cabinet position with the Obama administration.”

While you may defend Clinton, Gibson and even Helen Thomas for making Anti-Semitic Statements, I will defend none of them.

Yup. And a money grubbing Russian knows how to use it for more $$$$$$$$$.

Sorry but the things said in the privacy of ones home should be private. Unless you LIKE the idea of Big Brother.......

Pitt Mackeson! My favorite scene is in that restaurant in Lawrence:

Jake Rodel: We'll deal with them once we've had our vittles.
Pitt Mackeson: Why you little Dutch son of a bitch. You do what I tell you or I'll kill you.
Jake Rodel: [pulling a really big pistol and pointing it a few inches from Pitt's face] And when do you figure to do this mean thing to me Mackeson? Is this very moment convenient for you? It is for me.

What part of the following statement do you disagree?

“When it came to treating her citizens of African descent fairly, America failed. She put them in chains, the government put them on slave quarters, put them on auction blocks, put them in cotton field, put them in inferior schools... put them in scientific experiments...”

Sorry, there is no Right to Privacy in the Constitution.

Very liberal statement. You must love the idea of Big Brother. However the US Supreme Court has ruled several times that there is a right to privacy and they used the 1st, 4th and 14th Amendments.

You are in-correct.

I said earlier, *True* racists have no quams in showing and exhibiting thier racism..

ie: Neo Nazi’s
Ku Klux Klan’
Aryan Brotherhood

I don’t think saying the N-Word qualifies a person to be labeled a *Racist* Blacks say it all the time.

I don’t go around saying the N-Word but have I said the word? Yes...My point was if I want to say every cuss word known to man, and the N-Word that is my buisness in the privacy of my own home.

I guess you think anyone has the right to tape a person’s private conversation, and then plaster it all over the *Internet* for all to hear.

You agree with a race baiter. I don't read his crap. America is not the only country that ever had slaves. It has been done since the beginning of time. And yet it is AMERICA that you and Rev Wright single out to scourge. The descendants of slaves are now a protected class on the public dole. Don't even try to tell me that America "hasn't done enough". But you did say it, didn't you.

Post 155: I’m not quite sure America has paid for the “mistake” of slavery, but even if it has paid for that “mistake,” it does not minimize that mistake or absolve America of slavery and placing African Americans in scientific experiments.

YOU are a liberal race baiter.

Very liberal statement. You must love the idea of Big Brother. However the US Supreme Court has ruled several times that there is a right to privacy and they used the 1st, 4th and 14th Amendments. My saying there is no right to privacy in the Constitution is a liberal statement.

If that is what you believe, you may want to read up on a little Supreme Court case called Roe v. Wade and you will see what some perverted liberal Justices thought about the "Right to Privacy."

"Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973),[1] was a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court on the issue of abortion. The Court held that the constitutional right to privacy extends to a woman's decision to have an abortion..."

So, I guess there is a Right to Privacy in the Constitution, well that is if you believe in killing babies.

Snoopdog is a racist? Oh Noes!

Tru is gonna post, "I see you're supporting Snoopdog's right to be a racist..."

Tru...go back and reread Alinsky. Your tactic has dragged on and on and on... The tactic that drags on becomes a drag.

Where did I defend Clinton? Please post a link, in triplicate. When you receive the cancelation notice, please wait 30 days for further disapproval.

I actually advocated digging up Ted Kennedy so Obama can appoint him as the Chivas Czar.

Please try to keep up; if you can’t follow such a simple surreal nonsequitar you’ll never win the car!

“America is not the only country that ever had slaves. It has been done since the beginning of time.”

I agree that America is not the only country that held slaves. However, I expect more from America than I do Sudan, Saudi Arabia or Zimbabwe.

“The descendants of slaves are now a protected class on the public dole.”

Please explain.

So, do you disagree that America failed African Americans by holding them in slavery?
