Mike Huckabee: 'I was tea party' before it existed
CHARLOTTE OBSERVER ^ | 06 JULY 2010 | TIM FUNK

Posted on 07/06/2010 5:52:29 PM PDT by Extremely Extreme Extremist

Before speaking to a July 4 gathering at First Baptist Church, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee talked with the Observer.

He covered everything from the tea party movement to President Obama's handling of the BP oil spill to why a President Huckabee would have let the banks and General Motors fail and would oppose extending unemployment benefits yet again.

On some Republicans' call for the resignation of national GOP chairman Michael Steele : "I think that he's done more right things than he's done things wrong. Unfortunately, the wrong things that he's done have been very public in terms of comments. But that doesn't mean he's not qualified to lead the RNC. He's a visionary guy that has real passion. In many ways, he gets a little too much attention for making a gaffe here or there. But, heck, I've made them ... I'm not at a point where I'm ready to call for his head."

If Mike Huckabee was Tea Party before it existed, the movement would have been so weighted down it never would have gotten off the ground.

What’s he gonna’ claim next? That he was the bass player for Def leppard?

Wasn’t he the guy directly responsible for the deaths of 4 Seattle-area police officers?

Somehow I don’t think that’s part of the Tea Party movement (and, no doubt, the widows and their kids would agree).

RINO on steroids!

Self-serving, self-decieving puppet dances across the Corporate Media provided stage, for the delight of fools. IMHO

No, as a Arkansan, I can personally vouch for most of the comments made here.

In Arkansas, the pardon board makes the calls on parole, however it does cross the Governors desk. I don't know exactly how many people opposed the parole but there were not as many as supported it and so he let it go on through.

As to his deal making, and amnesty like characteristics, he did allow children of illegals to get state aid as anyone else for college, and he refused to sign legislation that had prohibitions in it. He passed several tax increases and his only claim to fame was getting rid of a auto brake inspection tax scheme, sometimes called a brake tag or inspection sticker.

Other than that, I did no see anything that I could label him a progressive on. He is just Mike Huckabee the Baptist.

Stick with the TV gigs.

LOL. One of my "small pleasures" is switching the satellite to ANY other channel every time he comes on. Hopefully someone at Nielsen is noticing a pattern.

“I don’t know exactly how many people opposed the parole but there were not as many as supported it and so he let it go on through.”

I don’t know how many either, but the prosecutor was clear as day when yelled: DON’T DO IT!!! But Huckabee knew better - so he let him walk, along with at least 1000 other felons. His arrogance is scary as hell to me. I just hope he is nothing more than wind this time around - I’d hate to see his releases at the federal level, if he ever gets that power.

... I'm not at a point where I'm ready to call for his head.

Whose head in the Democrat Crime Syndicate have you ever called for enabler Mike. YOU are lacking all of the characteristics of anyone I've ever met in any tea party meeting. Absent a criminal history yourself, that makes you one step above useless.
