Hayworth is toast on his way to being a punchline, and this was predictable. McCain could have been taken but assuming they actually wanted to win, how the opposition settled on Hayworth is inexplicable.

I have heard strange things about Hayworth so i am not surprised that McCain has pulled away. Ideology aside i would have loved a younger conservative to win this seat.

McCain has focused Hayworth’s reputation in Congress as a pork-barrel spender, a serious offense to many conservatives. And the senator has run an undeniably negative campaign against Hayworth, openly mocking him and attacking his credibility.

And it shows how uninformed all too many voters are that anyone falls for Juan McCain's constant babble about "earmarks", which amount to $20 to $30 billion annually, only a fraction of one percent of our $3+ trillion annual budget.

Wonder what all these dupes and suckers supporting McCain will have to say if he wins, and then within months returns to his open borders, pro-amnesty, pro Cap and Trade, pro closing Gitmo, against tax cuts, etc., etc., and stabbing conservatives in the back at every opportunity.

That's what will happen, because that's how McCain has always conducted himself. He's no conservative on the big issues that remain for Obama. He'll help Obama "transform" America.

The truth is, McCain is an excellent politician, when he wants to be.

From the story: “If McCain had a more conservative challenger, National Review wrote, the endorsement might have gone elsewhere. But while Hayworth’s record is conservative, the article read, it isn’t conservative enough to make a compelling case against McCain.”

Yeah, J. D.’s 97.5% lifetime ACU rating was just not sufficient to overtake McShame’s 81% in Never Relevant Opinion’s analysis.

From the story: “He may not be Marco Rubio, but he’s not Arlen Specter either,” the editorial said of McCain.

No, McShame is one of a kind—a backstabbing weasle who will turn on conservatives the day after the election, as he has always done in the past.

The voters get what they deserve. If they want to send a corrupt, creepy, backstabber like McShame back to D.C., so be it. I wouldn’t be as bothered about so idiotic a choice if it didn’t also affect citizens outside of Arizona.

...struggling to redefine himself as a Republican loyalist...

Why would someone in politics as long as McCain have to redine himself? I think we all know the answer.

I do not think Hayworth will win, but it’s far from over. Wait until the debate. This Arizona publication would love to see McCain win. Don’t underestimate AZ voters...yet.

I see all the rinos are out supporting the biggest rino of all...John McLiar. The BEST candidate bad money can buy!

FLUSH THE JOHN! (To the tune of Frankie & Johnnie)

Johnny and Teddy were Senators
On opposite sides of the aisle
They got together and drafted a bill
Guaranteed to make illegals smile
Amnesty was their game – and they had no shame

Johnny and Senator Feingold
Gave campaign finance a try
But then the highest court in the land
Said the 1st amendment must apply
Gotta play by the rules – now Johnny looks like a fool

Johnny and Mr. Obama
They both agree Gitmo should close
But bringing terrorists into the USA
Is a plan that we oppose
No, they don’t belong – and Johnny’s got it all wrong

Now Johnny and Senator Lieberman
Got together on cap and trade
Anemic hands across the aisle
Gonna send the country to its grave
It’s time to let him know – old Johnny’s gotta go

Johnny believes Global Warming
Limousine Liberals and all
Congressional junkets to Copenhagen
Everybody’s havin’ a ball
Just ask Al Gore - Johnny knows the score

S & L Man Charlie Keating
He came to Johnny one day
Said “the government boys are sniffing around
How much to make ‘em go away?”
Did Johnny take a bribe to join the Keating 5?

Now fast-forward 20 years later
Banks are in trouble again
Johnny says, “Let’s bail ‘em out
It’s just a trillion – or maybe ten.
Let’s put some wind in their sails – ‘cause they’re too big to fail.”

We know there’s oil in Alaska
Drilling won’t cause any harm
But Johnny agrees with the tree-hugging geeks
Gas is gonna cost a leg and an arm
Johnny why can’t you see what’s good for you and me?

Now everyone knows about ACORN
They get lots of taxpayers’ dough
Prostitution rings and voter fraud
And home loans to any old schmoe
No matter ACORN’s crimes – Johnny thinks they’re just fine

We’re tired of hearin’ your flip-flops
We’re tired of hearin’ your lies
You may think we’re all dummies but you can’t
Pull the wool over our eyes
You’re career’s hit a snag - so start packin’ your bags

‘Cause Johnny, you’ve worn out your welcome
It’s time to bid DC goodbye
Go write a book or learn to cook
And eat a little humble pie
Just ask Sheriff Joe – he says you gotta go

Yeah, go Johnny, go – it’s time to hit the road.
Good-bye

I agree with many sentiments in this thread. Like many, I too, cannot bear to think of McShame winning this election in Arizona. He has played an integral role in reducing America’s strength and preserving the American culture.

There was a time when McShame fought to defend America; these days he seems intent on weaking it - just consider the border with Mexico and his fight to keep it undefended!

I support JD because I simply can’t take anymore of McShame!

More and more each day I lose hope for this country. When people like McCain keep getting re-elected it’s one more nail in the coffin. It will take more than a bunch of rino’s to pull this nation from the abyss.

And with islamabama’s promise to keep Israel “secure” today just “secured” the American Jew votes this November.

I am not from this fine, fine state, and I don’t know much about Hayworth (vague impression that is mostly favorable). I would say leave this to the Arizonans. It cannot be too surprising when D.C. droids endorse the quintessential “Senator from Russell-Hart-Dirksen”

And give Palin a break. In life sometimes you have to return a compliment

I have never believed McCain could lose, and I’m VERY worried about Crist winning. If Specter and Bennett could run independent, I’d be worried about them winning, too.

Trucons had better cop on. November is for all the marbles.

Don’t screw it up.

Uh ... nobody else was brave enough to step forward.

This is a disaster. We have a bunch of RINO co-enablers. We need to STOP enabling this kind of nonsense.

We dont NEED John McCain in the party anymore.
Anyone who endorsed him has lost my respect - Palin, NR, etc.
Why? McCain has been a bane to the conservative and Republican causes both.

McCain hates conservatives, this election proves it more than anything else, because he attacks conservatives more viciously than he ever went after Obama.
