This July 4, Americas national Independence Day celebration will mark 30 spectacular years on air featuring the most dazzling display of fireworks anywhere in the nation, captured by 18 TV cameras stationed around Washington, D.C.
The 30th anniversary broadcast will be hosted by Jimmy Smits, with performances from some of the countrys biggest musical names including Reba McEntire, Gladys Knight, Darius Rucker (Hootie & the Blowfish), singer David Archuleta (American Idol), & actor & singer John Schneider, as well as classical pianist Lang Lang with the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly & the Choral Arts Society of Washington.
The July 4th concert finale includes Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture featuring the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets with live cannon fire provided by the U.S. Army Presidential Salute Battery. Also featured are the U.S. Army Ceremonial Band, the U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Joint Armed Forces Color Guard.

This has got to be better than the July 4th program from Ford’s Theater. That one was just pathetic from the get go.

Archie did a great job in the beginning. No strange alteration of Tthe Star Spangled Banner.

Just got in and turned it on .... can’t help wondering what John Adams would have to say about us celebrating 234 years later.
