OMG, me too. And we're still alive to tell our tale! We even played stick ball and flag football in the street. How on earth we survived I could not say......

We lived in the country surrounded by prison farm land. The only thing that separated us from the prisoners was a couple strands of barbed wire and shotguns held by guards.

Yup. I can still remember the relayed cry of “CARRRRR! CAAAARRRR COOOMMMING!” and every one would move to the side of the road to let it pass, and then move back out into the street.
