The Chicago City Council today passed Mayor Richard Daley's new set of gun restrictions 45-0.
The swift approval came just four days after the U.S. Supreme Court effectively tossed out Chicago's longstanding ban on handguns.

So the liberal anti-Constitution bullies are at it again.
I’m sure all those in the ‘hood will immediately comply following “the grace period”, right? Gun related crimes and murders will plummet in Chicago, right?
Or is this really only aimed at law abiding citizens in an attempt by the state to make criminals out of citizens?

I don’t think any gang members will obey the new limits. They’ll buy as many guns as they want, without taking safety classes.
Daley can run for re-election, in Feb. 2011. Who will oppose him? I emailed John Cox, Rosanna Pulido, and Dan Proft, and I asked them to run. Rosanna said that she won’t run, but I didn’t get a response from John or Dan.

When southern states tried to do a constitutional end-around in the 50’s 60’s it brought in the National Guard.

"City Council passes Daley gun restrictions 45-0"100% approval with minutes of deliberation? Kim Jong Il doesn't have that level of control over North Korea's parliament.

The rational purpose of gun control is to be able to rule without the consent of the governed
The rational response of the governed is revolution.

Well, how can Daley turn law abiding citizens who want to protect themselves with a gun, into criminals, without this law?
I mean, give the guy a break! Daley’s got to find a way to do this. It’s bad enough criminals in Chicago are armed and disobey the law. What Daley is doing is sending a message to the real criminals by showing them they will crack down on law abiding people who break gun laws because they don’t want to be victims of the true criminals.

45 to nothing?
They have a 45-member CITY COUNCIL!!??
I have to ask... ...are these paid jobs?
Would not his be the largest (and most inefficient) City Council on the planet?
To: Petruchio
The only reason someone wants to take your gun away from you is because he wants to do things to you that he could not do if you were armed.

You have got to be kidding me. I wouldn’t live in Chicago if it was the last place on earth. I spent a few months there one winter and it was the worst time of my life. Gawd I hate that place.
