"It injects demand into the economy," Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said of unemployment checks.

"It creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name."

Pelosi calls unemployment checks a "stimulus" that is a "double benefit" helping "those who lost their jobs" and at the same serves as a "job creator"

"It's impossible to think of a situation where we would have a country that would say 'we're not going to have unemployment benefits,'" Pelosi said.

I can’t believe anyone in leadership of this nation would think or say something like that. Unbelievable.

In Northern NY there have been ads on the radio claiming that for every one dollar of foodstamp use there is a dollar-eighty of benefit to the economy. No kidding.

Pelosi can say anything, no matter how absurd, with a straight face.

This is a screamer though.

Pelosi is like Janeane Garofalo; both need to sell a vowel and make a down payment on a brain. What planet are they really on?

Let’s see — so by this logic, the welfare program we had from 1965 to 1995 was also a wonderful creator of jobs. It worked so well, we had to stop it.

Point taken but did we really stop it? My guess is that it was clinton smoke and mirrors and it’s still going on, much as before, perhaps under a different name or something.

She’s never been an employer, has she?

I’ve had people come in here and work just long enough to qualify for unemployment again. Then they deliberately do something to get themselves laid off, or fired. Then they go appeal, and the Unemployment people ALWAYS side with the worker, never the Employer. NEVER.

It is well known that the employer never wins, even if the ex-employee has committed the most egregious infractions. And if the employer tries to do anything kind for the employee, the employer will lose even worse.

I had a woman working here who decided to be totally obnoxious one morning — sitting on a male employee’s desk in a tight skirt with her rear end practically in his face. Next she picked a fight with me in front of an outside consultant. This was in the morning, early in the day. I sent her home, and she refused to go. I then fired here, but I told her that I would pay her for the day, just as if she’d been there all day because she came quite a distance to work.

She screamed and yelled and was quite out of control. Finally she left and I took over her computer and downloaded all of her email. Seems that she was applying for other jobs with our customers. I didn’t hear any more from her for a couple of months, and then she puts in a claim against me for unemployment, even though she’d worked for someone else in the intervening months.

I tried to block her claim and told Work Force that she’d been fired for insubordination — cause. It was all documented. I lost because I had been nice and paid her for a full day, even though she started her fuss about 2 hours into her day. Live and learn.

Hunger would produce more jobs than unemployment checks

I’ve got a better idea. She should be on unemployment with no access to her hubby’s money, or her own millions, and see how much her check will “lift the economy”.

I just heard about this...I’m going to see if I can generate any ideas from it...or maybe just a quick little commentary

This woman is one of the stupidest politicians in my lifetime today. I can’t even begin to understand how she ended up as minority leader and then speaker...its just amazing.
