Russia will deliver 50 armored personnel carriers to the Palestinian Authority in the near future, a spokesman for Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

"In the coming days 50 armored personnel carriers will be delivered to Jordan and then will be handed over to Palestinian security forces in the West Bank," spokesman Andrei Nesterenko told reporters.

Russia first offered to supply armored personnel carriers to the Palestinians for internal security as early as 2005, but Israel initially opposed the delivery.

Moscow has also been increasing its efforts of late to include Hamas – the Gaza Strip rival of Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas - in Middle East peace talks.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov met earlier this week and reportedly disagreed over Moscow's increased efforts to include Hamas in Mideast peace talks...

... So this is how it all ends.

Argh. What really grinds my gears, is that Islam is no friend of Russia either.

I guess the problems with Russians is that they’re Russians. All this time, I thought it was because they were communists. Don’t know if that depiction of Patton in the movie is accurate where he told Bradley or someone we should just keep going, but if it is, I miss Patton. What’s with that picture? Looks like an old T-34 and not an APC.

I guess the problems with Russians is that they’re Russians. All this time, I thought it was because they were communists.

To be precise, the problem with them is the same problem we had with the Germans and the Japanese, and in the future, possibly with some consolidated Muslim empire (if we eventually withdraw from the Mid East) and with China. The will to universal empire. If we don't want to be serfs in their empire, we will have to face them in battle at some point, or at least support some of their adversaries with arms and training. Professing neutrality and not arming either party, as we did through most of WWII, is not going to work.

You have a good eye, that is an old WWII T-34. Fortunately it is not the correct picture of the APC the Russians are sending the Palestinian Authority. Here is the link to the Arutz Sheva article which has a small picture top left of article. Hope this helps.

according to the image on this site (it is in Russian), the APCs are BTR-80:

The Russian article also states that the APCs will be delivered without weapons per Israel's request and that two Mi-17 transport helicopters will be delivered in addition to the APCs.

I took a look at your blog. You write some pretty interesting stuff. Your guess as to the start date of the beginning of the next war was interesting. I’m not a Jew, but I’m always in a perpetual Bible read through. I just crossed Numbers 14 where the Israelites refused to enter Canaan. I’d read it before, but hadn’t noticed some of the detail that I noticed this time. Like the people first refused to go, then attempted to after the Lord struck down most of the scouts. Hadn’t realized that that day had such significance in your history.

Does this mean they will start transporting troops in these APCs instead of using ambulances?
