If you're a Republican running for Congress, you want to be on the National Republican Congressional Committee's "Young Guns" list of promising candidates.
Getting on the list shows donors that Washington takes your campaign seriously, and that you've built what political professionals see as a potentially winning campaign infrastructure.
Here are the names the NRCC is adding today:
Andy Barr in Kentucky's 6th district;
Rick Crawford in Arkansas' 1st district;
Robert Dold in Illinois' 10th district;
Keith Fimian in Virginia's 11th district;
Stephen Fincher in Tennessee's 8th district;
Mike Fitzpatrick in Pennsylvania's 8th district;
David Harmer in California's 11th district;
Joe Heck in Nevada's 3rd district;
Randy Hultgren in Illinois' 14th district;
Robert Hurt in Virginia's 5th district;
Adam Kinzinger in Illinois' 11th district;
David McKinley in West Virginia's 1st district;
Mick Mulvaney in South Carolina's 5th district;
Kristi Noem in South Dakota's at-large district;
Tom Reed in New York's 29th district; and
Todd Young in Indiana's 9th district.
“Nice to see things continuing to move our way.”
How does this show that things are moving our way?
It is precisely RINO elitists like the NRCC and their proteges that must be pushed out.
Yep, this is the beltway GOP RINOs selecting those candidates who are promising the play ball with them. Tea Party candidates need not apply.
I had no idea that all 16 of these candidates were RINO’s. Wow! All 16! By moving our way I presumed a preference for republican candidates. The NRCC has evaluated these campaigns and judged them to be viable. I apologize for assuming that others on this site would consider this a positive development.
Adam Kinzinger in Illinois’ 11th is quite impressive. His very youthful appearance may hurt him a bit now (looks like he is 20), but will serve him better later in his career.
I have heard good things about Hultgren in Illinois’ 14th (Hastert’s old stomping grounds), but I have not yet met him.
15 of these 16 have been selected by the primary voters already. So this is not interfering with the primary process or handpicking RINO's.
If I didn't know better, I'd say such kneejerk reactions were trolling...
Yeah I have little trust for the NRCC.
In the last election my congressman voted against the bank bailout so they stripped him of funding in the final weeks of the election calling him a lost cause. (He lost by a whopping 2%)
Now that he’s running again they originally named him one of their “young guns” and after leading all the polls for serveral months they named him an “up and comer” or something like that. He will take their help but I think he’s mostly ignoring them at this point.
“I had no idea that all 16 of these candidates were RINOs. Wow! All 16!”
Try to argue like an adult.
“By moving our way I presumed a preference for republican candidates.”
Given that so many Republicans are back-stabbing scoundrels, that presumption was unjustified.
“The NRCC has evaluated these campaigns and judged them to be viable.”
Viability is not the standard. Electing a RINO is hardly better than electing a Demonrat. The standard is the character of the candidate.
“I apologize for assuming that others on this site would consider this a positive development.”
Apology accepted.
Don’t you love it when you get beat up - even implicitly - when you post an article? That’s why my forum habits have changed so dramatically.
I am sure those whining have vetted each candidate to make their RINO proclamations.
(I know, I know, it’s the NRCC and not the candidate...)
Whatever.
“15 of these 16 have been selected by the primary voters already.”
So what? Have you forgotten that you can fool some of the people all the time, and all the people some of the time?
“So this is not interfering with the primary process or handpicking RINO’s.”
Really? There is no indication that this is so, and the past record of the Republican elite strongly suggests the opposite.
“If I didn’t know better, I’d say such kneejerk reactions were trolling...”
None of my reactions are “kneejerk.” I’ve been observing, discussing, and thinking about this crap for decades.
A call to trust the Republican elite is much more likely to be trolling.
I have to admit I was somewhat taken aback by a few of the reactions. I was anticipating some additional information on the individual candidates from people in those districts.
I think the one knee-jerker who attacks me and calls the entire list a bunch of RINO and then admonishes my reply in his next post is kind of pathetic.
“Dont you love it when you get beat up - even implicitly - when you post an article? Thats why my forum habits have changed so dramatically.”
If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. This is a discussion forum, not a support group.
“I think the one...is kind of pathetic.”
No you don’t. You’re just falling back on personal comments because you have no reasoned argument to make.
Unfortunately, I have to go to work now. Try to learn something about conservatism and its relationship to the Republican Party while I’m gone.
They at least, want to get the gavel out of the hands of Nancy Pelosi.
To paraphrase Churchill, if the devil would rid of us of Pelosi I'd find a few kind words to say about him.
Uh, yes, actually I do.
I'm sure you're a nice person but unless you live in Wyoming or Idaho, not every Republican candidate and office holder will pass your conservative litmus test. Please do join us in the real world one day.
you have no reasoned argument to make.
Yes, your "they are supported by the NRCC and must therefor all be RINO's argument is simply brilliant. I quiver before your rhetorical brilliance.
Nope, I just don’t post articles anymore (I’m down to a couple per year versus hundreds).
You have a real good guy up your way in Joe Walsh, he’s in the North Chicago area.
Thanks RD... I’ve heard a little about him. He is in Melissa Bean’s district I believe. Bean has to go. I sure hope she, Debbie Halvorson and Bill Foster all get spanked.
