Obama attacks GOP over Wall Street bill

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama on Wednesday accused Republicans of being out of touch with the struggles of ordinary Americans, railing against one House lawmaker's apology to BP oil and another's criticism of Wall Street overhaul legislation.

In comments prepared for delivery at a town hall in Wisconsin, Obama gave voice to the Democratic Party's latest populist complaints in a tough election year.

Responding to House Minority Leader John Boehner's gripe that the financial bill amounts to "killing an ant with a nuclear weapon," Obama said, "He should come here to Racine and ask people if they think the financial crisis was an ant."

It was a measure of Democrats' unease approaching critical midterm elections in a dismal political and economic climate that the president would personally take on individual House members. He did so with gusto.

Is anyone in Wisconsin going to mention how bambi just cost them 1000 jobs over his globull warming bs? In 2006 unemployment was 4%, today it’s at 10%. So many lies from this clown, so little time.

The stimulus and recovery spending is really charity spending. It’s to help the most seriously injured victims of the downturn by transferring money from wherever it can be found, or printing it.

We help the injured and also slow down that impersonal thing called economic growth. We sacrifice long term growth to take care of immediate suffering.

There’s nothing wrong with this charity as long as it is done properly.

This incident proves, definitively, just what a political flyweight Obama really is.

Presidents are not supposed to be getting into arguments with individual Congressmen - that’s what you have political aides for. Let THEM get in the public fights, while President remains - presidential. Clearly, Obama comprehends none of this.

So, why doesn’t the GOP take advantage of this weakness? If Obama cannot resist being drawn into fights with those lower than him - actions which lower his standing amonst the public - then the Republicans should deliberately keep him off-balance by always sending their pitbulls to get Obama’s goat, rhetorically. Totally distract him!

That’ll throw a wrench in his Administration’s plans for sure.

Interesting thought on the political strategy. Kind of like a smaller, quicker boxer landing jabs to his opponent to irritate him and wear him down flailing at the air. Soften him up with jabs and then land some body blows.

I think Obama's outrageously large ego and notoriously thin skin compels him to get into these skirmishes. But he's too much of a man-child to resist the urge to do so. I hope it makes him fail all the more quickly, because the quicker we are rid of this bum the sooner we can begin repairing the damage he's done (although I doubt if in my lifetime I'll see the economic damage he's done be fixed).
