Republicans need to clear out 90% of the Social Security “disability” payments. It’s going to the same folks who used to get welfare - but now don’t have to keep having kids to stay on for life. Also, the moochers undermine the program for those who really are disabled.
OTOH, the average life expectancy of black males is about 65. Thats a whole swath of people looking to get "theirs" through the back door.
My husband is on disability through no fault of his own. Everyone acts like it is so easy to get disability. Believe me, it isn’t. Sure, there are some who probably shouldn’t receive it, but I believe most are truly disabled.

I get SSD, and it’s HARD to qualify (or at least that was the case 13 years ago).
If there is an economically significant proportion of people getting SSD who don’t truly need it then I would agree with you.
But is there a large percentage of such people? Do you (or anyone) have any facts/statistics on this?

Totally agree with your statement. I personally know three people who collect SSD (disability) due to being “depressed.”
