You are so right about splintering the conservative vote and Romney taking advantage—so how can you reasonably post a DeMint 2012 in your tagline?

Our nominee was selected by South Carolina last election season. This ahole was instrumental in making that happen. If you recall, Huckabee won Iowa.

Irrational haters of Romney, based on him being a Mormon, how do you like your country now?

This question isn't directed to the poster.

just who makes up this guy’s supporters? He’s a complete disaster, just waiting to muddy the waters so we get another McCain. Who supports him?

There was a small group of hardcore Hucksterists on FR as the '08 primaries were winding down. From studying their posts, I surmised that about the only reason for their near-fanatical support was that he's a Southern Baptist minister. No other qualifications required. I also observed that a lot of this group were among the most mean-spirited religious bigots to be found on FR.

Really? Thank you, that speaks volumes to the hand we keep seeing pulling the puppet strings in both parties. That hand is Communism.

I'm behind Sarah! That said I'm not sure she is really running. She may be answering a higher calling, sorry for the inflection.

Too soon most likely, but Christy has been kicking butt. Bachman, Brewer, and others (especially women!) are standing up.

Jindal was weak last time around. He's been temperin himself regarding the oil spill but is sounding a lot more like a leader.

Of course Romney, Huck, and others are going to try but most likely won't make it in light of the Tea Party movement.

Meanwhile Sarah has been trying to build...as I've always said needed to be done...a conservative movement from the local level up. Sure sometimes she's backing candidates who may not be the most caonservative, but my take is that she thinks she can control the ones she backs.

2010 is goinf to be incredibly important. We have to see what happens.

If conservatives make big gains I think Sarah will run and as of now she gets my vote. If some of the others I mentioned are in the mix it would come down to the debates for me. prisoner6

After the first primaries, the next batch shift to the West, where Sarah is much stronger.

I agree with you. Bachman, Brewer and Palin have shown more guts than all the men combined.

By the way Prisoner6, who is number one?

Aptly and succinctly put, and as a born-again Christian, all I can say is this charlatan will NOT be receiving our families votes for all of the reasons you listed. Christians would have to be ignorant, delusional AND DECEIVED to vote for such a pseudo-conservative fraud. Huckabees record speaks for itself, and it is reprehensible.

"You are so right about splintering the conservative vote and Romney taking advantage—so how can you reasonably post a DeMint 2012 in your tagline?"

Easy answer. We are about 17 months away from the Iowa caucus. I favor Jim DeMint (with Haley Barbour a very close second). It's important to me that I express my feelings at a grass roots level. As of this moment there are no announced candidates. It's all up for grabs. As we get close to the Iowa Caucus and the New Hampshire primary we will see who has broad support, who has the financial viability and who has the fire in the belly (unlike say a Fred Thompson).

Now lets take this a step further. I'm not even saying ALL CONSERVATIVES have to support the same candidate as of the day caucusing starts in Iowa. But there is going to come a point, fairly early in the primary season, where reality has to set in and we need to get on the same team. Without naming names most of us who follow the horse race that is the primaries are familiar with FReepers who very vocally support their candidate. Even in the face of their candidates total inability to compete they staunchly cling to their sinking boat denying that the water is over their knees.

Believe me when I say that if the candidates I favor at this moment does not announce and/or does not appear competitive I will migrate my support to the conservative I feel could best be competitive in November 2012.

Re #73.

I don’t think Romney could win a national election either. But he could sure as hell win the nomination just like John McCain did.

You are, number6.

Questions are a burden to others, answers a prison to oneself.

Our goal must be a day when the free flow of trade, from the tip of Tierra del Fuego to the Arctic Circle, unites the people of the Western Hemisphere in a bond of mutually beneficial exchange, when all borders become what the U.S.-Canadian border so long has been: a meeting place rather than a dividing line.
--Ronald Reagan, January 25, 1988.

Communist, indeed. Who was pulling Reagan's strings, I wonder?
