Fred Koch developed a new refining process in the 1930’s, but couldn’t get any domestic refiners to use his new method. So, he went to Russia with the new technology. Uncle Joe Stalin nationalized his refineries as soon as they were operational.

Lesson learned. Fred came back and taught his sons to never depend upon the good wishes of any government for any venture. To this day, Koch Industries will not invest in anything where profit is controlled by government (think ethanol).

Surprised that other American companies have forgoten this lesson, especially with a socialist gov. like Venezuela.
