Until the Taliban or Al Queada fields a team, I’m not interested. Soccer bores me and the Olympics were a lot more exciting during the Cold War. But to each his own. I’m happy for my fellow Americans.

What bothers me is the rest of the world that constantly pound on America in their sports columns about how America should care about soccer. Memo to the rest of the world, we could win this world cup and I don’t think soccer would rise that much in popularity in America. It’s just not going to happen.

Ratings are at an all-time high.

ESPN (Disney) and Fox (News Corp.) have paid for the rights to the World Cup and/or the English Premier League. Are those companies in business to lose money? Do they have a history of same?

The reason soccer is the 82nd ranked sport in the US is because there are 81 sports that are better. Those other countries just don’t have it so good.
