Whether or not it was right of McChrystal to say what he said, the President should not have made such a big issue of it.

Had our president been a man with thicker skin, he would have ignored it. Had our president put the troops first, he would have ignored it. Now our troops are in the middle of this. It is bound to cause loss of morale.

Had our president realized that if he spoke out, others would too, making the whole thing out of proportion and making us look foolish in the eyes of other countries.

There were other ways to deal with this issue, in private, without bringing the General to Washington, taking him away from his duties, and causing all of this.

Quiet patience, strong silence, and tact were what was called for. The marks of a leader. Marks Obama does not possess. He is like the little kid in the school yard who takes his ball away if he does not like the way other kids are playing. What a wuss, wuss, wuss. I get more discouraged every day. It is bad enough he is not a good leader...he is not even a good, grownup man.

Yes, but his political standing is so fragile and ephemereal that to not do anything now would show him to be a paper tiger. He had to pull this grandstanding stunt.

It is an indication of his executive and leadership qualities (rather, the lack of) that has caused the chaos and discord between the WH, its factions and the military on the ground.

Seems to me that in Bush tenure, weren’t there six generals that came forth denouncing the war effort. The left portrayed them as courageous.

What you describe in your post is leadership (as you point out). Leadership doesn’t come from being a community organizer. Leadership doesn’t come from being a state Senator, or Congressional Senator. Both positions are ‘one-of-many’ where consensus is the rule.

What we have is an ineffective community organizer, practiced in manipulating people for his own edification, and using political gamesmanship to his own advantage. He is in no way qualified for the position he holds, nor are those attending him qualified for their positions. We are being led by the lost.
