NBC News' Savannah Guthrie reports this morning that Gen. Stanley McChrystal is being called to Washington for a meeting at the White House tomorrow in the wake of a Rolling Stone article that has exposed McChrystal and his staff as mockingly disrespectful of their civilian overseers, including their commander-in-chief President Barack Obama.
Guthrie posted at Twitter:
McChrystal has been ordered to the Sit Rom tomorrow to explain his stmts criticizing admin officials to Rolling Stone to POTUS in person 15 minutes ago via UberTwitter
Guthrie added: "McChrystal has been calling around town apologizing to officials."
The Atlantic reported late last night that McChrystal had been called by numerous top officials last night:
Within hours after today's Rolling Stone story broke, McChrystal was called by the White House, the Secretary of Defense, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. They were not happy.
The Atlantic also notes that McChrystal never completely had the trust of the Obama administration:
Even though McChrystal voted for Obama and told him so during their first meeting, he sensed that a number of senior White House aides didn't really believe that the former commander of the military's special missions unit during the Bush-Cheney years was suddenly on their side. National Security Adviser James Jones, who is a bit of cipher to McChrystal's team, may or may not have been one of these aides. No one in the West Wing bought all that liberal internet chatter about JSOC's alleged crimes -- but no one really didn't buy it, either.
Thanks for the pdf. Reading it now. It did not take long to realize this started out as a hit piece. First paragraph.
My thoughts exactly. What sober general would spill his guts to Rolling Stone magazine? Something is very strange about this story.
yur doon it wrong....
The whole key to understanding who Obama is from is right here in this article...

The two pieces of relevence
She is NOT buried with her husband, Stanley
Obama did not attend
‘Bammy’s father is NOT Barack Obama Sr.
The whole Obama administration thought they could fight and win a war using the PC warfare.

I just had a thought — it’s a theory that may explain all this. What do you think?
As some said, normally a general would not engage in bad- mouthing his CiC to the press, and McC may have voted for Obama, but he is not so stupid that he doesn’t understand the consequences.
What if McC found out that Obama is about to fire him, make him the scape goat for our troubles in Afghanistan and AFTER he found this out, he decided to engage in a “pre-emptive strike”, giving the RS interview, he at least wanted to tell people what’s going on BEFORE he gets fired.
Then once he said it, he has no other choice, but to apologize, but at least he is not going to go down quietly, not going to fall on his sword to protect Obama.
The more I think about it, the more sense this makes to me.
This is as close to a mutiny as you can get. And a LOT of Americans, perhaps a majority, will be backing the mutiny.Agreed.
Question: At what point do we support a military coup in this country, with the aim of restoring our rights and freedoms, with (hopefully) free and fair elections at the next cycle?
My concern is that once they have the power, the military will not relinquish it willingly. But at this point, I have way more confidence in the honor and integrity of the military than I do with our democratic masters, who seem hell bent on disenfranchising the white, productive members of our society so as to bring about a socialist utopia.
Generals Winfield Scott and George McClellan both ran for President as serving Army officers. (McClellan resigned his commission on Election Day)
Thats a bit harsh. Military folks are entitled to their vote like the rest of us. It cant be helped if they waste it.
For that matter, many repubs sat out and they could be called more a disgrace for failing to perform their duty to vote.
Remember to include Adm Mullen in that.
So Gen. McChrystal Trash-Talks His Bosses In Bars. Whatever. So Do You
The Poll gives the wrong proper responses. The blame should be on Obama for all the obvious reasons elucidate on this thread.
“Speaking truth to power-I like it”
It’s not the speaking truth to power that is the problem. It’s going to the press that is the problem.
McChrystal is not fit for command if he actually went to the press with criticism of the Commander-in-Chief.
He would not tolerate it from his command structure, nor should he.
This is unfortunately the Generalship we get with wars that aren’t really wars.
Any General worth his stars would have been fired years ago for speaking up against nation building, rules of engagement that endanger troops, and other pursuits that do not lead to a military victory - which was in fact ruled out by GWB several years ago in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“Obama will make a mess of this situation.”
He already has. We have Rahm Emmanuel stating when we’re going to leave Afghanistan.
Every day there’s a new disaster with this Administration.
Let's see if Obama fires him. I suspect he will, just to show he can “kick someone’s ass”.
This is just another result of the “change” Obozo has put into action. Some men are showing they have a set.
