Mark Levin attacks 'phony, populist idiot' O'Reilly over BP fund (BOR defending Dear Leader)
The Washington Post's Right Now ^ | June 21, 2010 | David Weigel

Posted on 06/21/2010 6:27:17 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Twice last week, Bill O'Reilly booked conservative Republican stars on his show--Sarah Palin and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) -- and came at them from the unexpected stance of defending President Obama. With Palin, he defended Obama's handling of the BP spill. With Bachmann, he disagreed with her criticism of how the BP escrow fund was set-up.

All of that sparked an outraged rant from radio host Mark Levin, which the Right Scoop has captured and put online. In it, Levin makes the case that a lot of conservatives who don't have to worry about re-election are making--that, yes, the president "shook down" BP, and that O'Reilly is a "phony, populist idiot" for thinking otherwise.

(VIDEO AT LINK)

"Let me explain something to you, Mr. Cable TV!" says Levin, not using O'Reilly's name. "British Petroleum was in the back pocket of the Democrat Party! It gave Obama a million dollars. It backs cap and trade!" And he defends Rep. Joe Barton for "speaking the truth."

He may have been inarticulate about it. There was no need to apologize to BP. I get that. But if you have an IQ over 12, you get his point, which was: we can't have a president with the power to decide when a company has to cough up tens of billions of dollars, without legislation, without oversight... this is why we have a rule of law, to sort these things out. Not a president who brings this people before him and threatens them! Here's a relevant segment from O'Reilly's interview with Bachmann, in which he gets her to basically support the idea of the fund -- Levin, reflecting a good amount of opinion out there, is so angry about the process that he sees O'Reilly as a useful idiot for even asking this.

I thought I was the only one noticing that BO has slipped a brain gear lately. He has become the BIGGEST BO apologist in the media. I assure you he will NOT remain number one in his slot long if he keeps it up.

O'Reilly has NEVER been a conservative;
populist boob, yes, but not a conservative.

Just like Mike Huckleberry.

Nicely put: clear, concise, accurate, and fair!

"The cutting edge of conservatism is yelling, name-calling and hanging up on callers?"

And you know all this because you listened to him once?

Levin hangs up on callers who try to unleash diatribes on his show because it's, well, HIS SHOW.
But principally for moronic statements.

Which is why I'm "hanging up" on you...

The guy who has been #1 on Fox as long as I can remember.

The most clueless moron ever on Fox; not to mention his 1st grade grammar.

Why anyone would watch Bill O’Reilly is beyond me.

Laura Ingraham should replace Oaf O'Reilly.

Bio:

"After graduating from Dartmouth College, Laura worked as a speechwriter in the final two years of the Reagan Administration at the White House, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Education.

She went on to graduate from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was Notes Editor of the Law Review. She served as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Ralph K. Winter on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

After clerking, Laura worked as a white-collar criminal defense attorney for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Laura launched "The Laura Ingraham Show" in 2001.

Mark hits it out of the park

Good description. The Stupak affair was most revealing: The administration's lawyers thought by offering him a non-paying position as an advisor that would protect them- and they admitted as much in a letter.

Mark got the law out and plainly explained how it didn't matter if money was involved, just tampering with the outcome of an election. And, one could be found guilty whether directly or in-directly involved in the act of tampering.

Clinton's role, like that of the Black Panthers, was to act as though no attorney general would come after him, and so far, that seems the case. (If I know Bill he'd rather leather-up with club-in-hand and intimidate white women at a polling place).

Gotta love Levin.

I find solace in his rage at liberals and his commitment to their defeat.

And BOR? He's nothing but an elitist poser.

I agree. Laura Ingraham is great and would bring back all the viewers Fox has lost in O'Reilly's prime time slot. I would love to see BOR go to MSNBC or maybe take Larry King's place. Poetic Justice.
