I can sympathize with his plight. He might as well get out while the gettin’ is still fairly good.

Yeah, times are tough all over....

So how is he ever going to survive if he's not raking in over $400K a year anymore?

The green-eyed monster is so unbecoming. Seriously, why do you even come here? To troll? It's obvious you are neither conservative nor libertarian.

So you think they make $400k a year and that's too meager for their lifestyle these days so they're quiting, is that it?

Wow... I expected more from you. That was completely clueless with a little tinge of class envy thrown in.

“So how is he ever going to survive if he’s not raking in over $400K a year anymore? “

Sorry, but you’ve got it wrong. Some docs do make this much, some more. Most don’t. And, if you break it down into compensation per hour worked you’d be quite surprised.

So, Willie my boy, how many employees do you have?

In other words, how many jobs have YOU created for other people?

Of are you content to collect your union payola from a job somebody else created for you?

Your Doc’s PRACTICE may take in 400K/year. So what ? It’s not what your gross income is, but your net after expenses and taxes. I’m a senior engineer, and found out **I** make more, net of taxes, than my physician does. . .

As the wife of a physician-
When you go through 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, 5 years of residency, and find yourself $100,000 in debt.
And-
you start a practice, to be told how much you can get paid, and have to deal with patients who would sue you in an instant.
And-
spend all night tending to patients who got into accidents in the ER.
And-
have to support an office staff and pay high overhead.
And-
Have a very high stress job in which decisions are made within seconds that can affect a patient’s future.
You can then make snide remarks about physician’s income.
You are a complete jerk, and I do not care if i get banned for saying so.
Take your class envy somewhere else. Free Republic is supposed to support achievers, not low end losers.
Go to DU.

Willie-
I might also add-
You seem to post a lot about trains, so I assume you work for Amtrak.
How many years of education and debt did you have to start your career?
What is your stress level?
Have you ever stopped a heart during open heart surgery?
Have you ever repaired a person who was torn apart in an auto accident?
Have you ever coded a patient?
Or did you throw some baggage in a train, stamped some tickets, and fester a resentment against people who earn more than you?
I might add, most physicians do not make $400,000 a year.

If he was clearing $400k per year he would not quit. Private practices are a small buisness. Even if a Doc actually cleared $400k, there is still a payroll to meet, insurance for staff, medical liability insurance for those who provide care, rent/mortgage, utilities, etc. $400k is not so much after all that.

*********************************************************
Pay a RN and at least 1 (probably 2) office workers out of that and then add in the fixed costs of rent/power and insurance which can be hundreds of thousands ... pretty soon it’s not so much ... This is why doctors are leaving private practice for sweet gigs like with the VA where you have no overhead or insurance costs ..

When did this person's annual income become your business, Willie? Shouldn't he be able to bring in as much as the market allows? If you don't like it, you don't have to visit his practice!

That's the cool thing about the free market. You can choose to go to this doctor, or you can choose another. Of course, socialists like you want to put an end to those capitalistic shenanigans.

Well, when you have your Euro style medicine to go with your Euro style rail system, you won't have too long to enjoy it. Under socialism, those who don't produce aren't given a very high priority for medical care. Keep killing the golden goose, Willie; you won't have anyone to finance your train fetish.

I personally knew Doc's in SoCal that were making right at $100k gross a year...and had been Doc's for quite a few years.

Willie...you seem to have some class envy going on here.......

Just saying........

That is before they pay their $250,000+ malpractice insurance!

“So how is he ever going to survive if he’s not raking in over $400K a year anymore?”

Ignorant statement. Even if a doc took in $400K, the overhead is extreme and malpractice insurance is obscene. Even if a doc cleared $40K/year, so what? Hussein hasn’t completely annihilated the free enterprise — yet.

Do you mean before or after the 200K a year in malpractice insurance?
Cause that’s what my boss paid and he was a Psych. I can only imagine what any surgeon pays.

Besides your very questionable assumption (very few doctors earn anywhere near that), why are you so sinfully envious of others?
