Laura Wojcik's little girl, Elizabeth, is due Saturday. So imagine her surprise when she learned she'd have to find another doctor for the delivery and find one in just one day.
"I was pretty upset because I love going here and everything. They're good doctors, and then I had to change," said Wojcik.
A doctor from the Norwich OB-GYN Group will be on call this weekend, but inside the office, the waiting room is empty, and there are no doctors in the exam rooms. The office stopped taking patients Thursday when it decided it could no longer meet the financial demands of running the practice.
"We've had a reduction in reimbursement from the state-funded insurances, because the budget situation, things had slowed down, so April, May were very slow, and June continued to be slow," said Bernadette Grecki, the practice administrator.
Add to that the payments from the largest state-funded insurance provider wouldn't be arriving till July, and the office says it had no choice but to close.
"It was too much for the doctor. He realized he couldn't keep funding the practice," said Grecki.
The group says it is working with other OB-GYN's in the area to accommodate patients, and the files of pregnant patients who are at 32 weeks or more have already been transferred to Backus Hospital, so doctors will be prepared when the women go into labor.

Yeah...willie, tell us what you do for a living, and how much you make!
Trolling for private and confidential information has long been a bannable offense.
You shouldn't be asking for that information from anybody on this forum, even in jest.
You don't recognize context and sarcasm much anymore, eh?
You don't recognize context and sarcasm much anymore, eh?
What don't you understand about the phrase "even in jest"???
Don't try to arrogantly justify the indefensible when a simple apology and "I didn't really mean it" would've been more appropriate.
Willie claims to be a Christian, but he is committing a sin and that is Envy..
Willie,
Your new found desire to ban those who violate posting rules is laudable! Osage Orange tried to clarify his remarks by stating it was meant in sarcasm. You quantified your call for his ban by saying you don’t violate the rules, “even in jest.”
Let’s review those posting rules, Willie, just so we’re all on the same page - NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts.
As disturbing as it seems, we have a long-time poster here who, on occasion, has threatened physical violence.

Willie, the poster threatened to stab a fellow FReeper with a farm implement. Willie, I’m sure you’re the first to agree that those posting on this website shouldn’t be threaten violence towards others on this forum, even in jest. Do you agree that breaking the rules is inexcusable, Willie?
This same poster commented here, in post 206 -

- that he’s ready and willing to trade our liberties as long as he “get to enjoy some modern mass transit (sic)” and he calls our desire to live our lives as we choose and enjoy the fruits of our labor free from socialistic wealth redistribution as “delusional visions of government that you’ll never achieve.” Who wrote that, Willie? It sure wasn’t Thomas Paine. Was it, Willie?
This attitude seems totally at odds with Jim Robinson’s 2004 post concerning his vision for Free Republic -
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1103363/posts
“As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.”
I don’t see anything in this statement supporting trading liberty for a free train ride. In fact, it seems quite the opposite. That’s my interpretation. What’s your’s, Willie?
Thanks G.B.
I just chose to ignore the old narrow gauged coot.....
FRegards,
Here’s another example of the poster threatening another FReeper with a farm implement...

The patient suffers from a train fetish, obsession with other people’s money, class envy, and a fixation in jabbing butts! What would Dr Freud say?
My pleasure O. Willie acts like a typical school yard bully. He picks fights, but when he loses he calls for the teacher to rescue his cowardly butt.
He used to call anyone with a post 98 sign up date “newbie.” After repeated mockings he gave that one up. After a previous disagreement, he said I was on his ignore list. I bet he wishes he had followed through with that one.
So true!
Best FRegards,
I’ve noticed the same thing. The socialist government school imdoctrination is more insidious than we have even recognised. People have to be aware and thoughtful to not automatically revert to the socialist meme of “fairness”. We can have either freedom or their version of “equality” , the two can’t exist together. Just look at Britain’s “conservative”” party, it’s already succumbed to “fairness” over freedom.
“Those MDs were likely Zero voters.”
Not at all. Most doctors strongly opposed Obamacare and were NOT Obama voters.
A small fraction of them were, but most doctors knew the dangers and it’s becoming reality. MANY doctors will retire and go out of business.
Then Obama will use that as an excuse to not only take over health insurance, but all medical care, by nationalizing hostpitals and all doctors will work for wages for the government.
That’s how it was (and is) in communist countries.
So let's start by yanking that defibrillator out of your chest
So let's start by yanking that defibrillator out of your chest
Well that certainly reflects all the dumbed down arrogance of a true "bleeding heart liberal."
My defibrillator was bought and paid for without any cost to the taxpayer whatsoever.
So in addition to being a violation of my fundamental "Right to Life",
your asinine proposal is also a violation of my personal property rights.
So buzz-off, you ignorant jerk.
Well..they CAN continue in “private practice” if they have a business NOT built on STATE (or Federal) insurance funding/payments....That’s what’s causing the problems, I think.....just like when we were in Canada in 1989....docs went on strike....they weren’t getting their federal payments.....

>>So how is he ever going to survive if he’s not raking in over $400K a year anymore<<
Do you mean before or after the 200K a year in malpractice insurance?
Cause that’s what my boss paid and he was a Psych. I can only imagine what any surgeon pays.
>>Did the doctor move to an undisclosed location in Colorado?<<
I’m so glad I’m reading Atlas Shrugged.
We should get underground care going.
When I ran a Psych Office, we charged a third of a medicare payment if someone was willing to pay cash under the table.
Would you be willing to treat for cash?
I admire you greatly.
