WASHINGTON -- Some 28 foreign countries and international organizations have offered help in responding to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, but the bulk of those overtures remain "under consideration," according to a tally posted on the U.S. State Department's website.
On May 10, for example, the United Arab Emirates offered to send oil skimmers, dispersant and containment boom, along with human and technical support, the website says. As of Friday, no decision had been made on any of those propositions, the site indicates.
Also pending for more than a month are offers of containment boom and skimmers from the European Maritime Safety Agency; containment and fire boom from Germany; and bird rehabilitation equipment from France . . .

Obozoz don’t need no stinking help, it would spoil his fun.
And liberals whine at us, “What would you have Obama do???”
The Coast Guard has been given operational parameters that require them to apply the Jones Act to any offers of help.
The Obama Administration has refused to grant a general waiver of the Jones Act in an appeasement of labor unions. The feckless press is treating the lack of a Jones Act waiver like the Sestak scandal; they ignore it, regarding it as a “Fox News” story. Meanwhile the lives of gulf residents, the environment and now even the health of people and wildlife are being deeply effected by this dereliction of duty. We learned from Katrina that natural disasters are politicized and in this case the Democrats are playing to big labor union’s demands.
If you check everyone of Obama’s speeches on the Gulf disaster, you will see that he never commits to bringing all available resources, both domestic and international, to bear on the problem. He carefully parses his words so as to avoid any reference to a fully committed effort.
Thanks for the post.
Ping on foreign offers to assist with Oil Spill.

All of this should be splattered all over TV, radio, internet, newspapers, and magazines 24/7, non-stop.
Someone needs to start asking, IS it deliberate
I agree. Its not really breaking news but I posted it here because, in a sense, it is: We know aid has been shunned, but its been difficult (at least for me) to find out exactly how much and from whom. This is Obama’s own State Department telling us how dilatory he has been.
Starting to wonder about Hillary at State. First she goes to Ecuador and enrages people by announcing Obama and Holder are going to sue the state of Arizona before Americans knew. Now her department itemizes Obama’s screw-ups.
Just clean it up.
Obama really sucks. Somebody please give him a straw.
When is the first oil spill hanging? I’d like to watch.
Resign.
I missed it but you are correct. In his Wednesday speech he said:
"Make no mistake: we will fight this spill with everything weve got for as long it takes."
Lawyers. A hell of a deal when we have to read statements from the WH looking for escape clauses.
“
Many foreign offers to help with oil spill still hanging, website indicates
“
The real irony...this from the President that doesn’t believe in
American Exceptionalism, wants to talk to murderous dictators, etc.
And thus spurns offers of assistance from some of the best friends of
the USA.
Because he wants the Gulf Oil Mess to be as big as possible in order to:
1. Ruin the Oil/Gas industry
2. Perform a total cashectomy on the Oil/Gas Industry
3. Push Cap AND Tax
4. Create welfare jobs for displaced oil workers
5. Punish support personnel for the oil/gas industry. Especially for those in Texas, etc. that refused to vote for The Messiah
6. Create more grant ($$$) oppurtunities for environmental “scientists”
to cause the man-made BP disaster.
I’ll stop now before I vomit at the mendacity of Obama and Co.
You bet, Boss!
Do they expect to be paid?
It says in the article that they do expect reimbursement.
