Governor Jan Brewer Learns of President’s Directive to Sue Arizona
AZGovenor.gov ^ | June 17 2010 | Governor Jan Brewer

Posted on 06/17/2010 4:54:39 PM PDT by curth

PHOENIX – Governor Jan Brewer said she was stunned and angered to learn during an Ecuadorean television interview with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that the Obama Administration had decided to sue Arizona over its recently passed anti-illegal immigration law, SB1070.

Video of the interview can be seen at Governor Brewer’s Arizona Border Security Information website: www.azgovernor.gov/AZBorderSecurity.asp Secretary Clinton announced during the interview on June 8th that President Obama has directed the U.S. Justice Department to “bring a lawsuit against the Arizona law.”

“This is no way to treat the people of Arizona,” said Governor Brewer. “To learn of this lawsuit through an Ecuadorean interview with the Secretary of State is just outrageous. If our own government intends to sue our state to prevent illegal immigration enforcement, the least it can do is inform us before it informs the citizens of another nation.”

Governor Brewer said, “I just visited with the President in the Oval Office about our differences over immigration policy, and the one firm understanding we had was that within two weeks he would provide details of his commitment to deploy National Guard troops to the border. While I am grateful that communications have taken place about a possible visit by Administration staff before the end of the month, there is not yet a confirmed date. More importantly, no information about additional troop and border security enhancements has been provided by the Obama Administration to the citizens of Arizona.”

Governor Brewer recently announced the creation of a legal defense fund for private contributions in defense of Arizona’s illegal immigration enforcement measures – www.keepazsafe.com.

Over $22,000 in contributions have been made to the border legal defense fund since its announcement yesterday evening. Over $26,000 had previously been sent unsolicited to the Governor for legal defense of Arizona, for an approximate total of $48,000 in the fund.

Well,it sorta is , Arizona territory was considered part of Texas at one time. obama’s actions is nothing more than declaring war against a state, the rest of the states need to support Arizona.. United We Stand Divided We Fall.

Illegals are causing more problems in AZ than in TX.
May be because more cross into AZ or because TX has a reputation
for dealing with law breakers.

Reagan actually gave AMNESTY to 12 million illegals. How low you rate Reagan for doing that?

Nice try but logic isn’t on your side.

Reagan stated that the 1986 amnesty was to be a one-time event. Which means that in order for Dubya to ride the coat tails of Reagan he is bound by Reagan’s condition that amnesty occur just once. That precludes Dubya’s amnesty since it violates Reagan’s condition.

Dubya’s attempted amnesty, like Obama’s, contradicts Reagan’s one-time provision. A stubborn fact that doesn’t help you.

Ed Meese, Reagan’s attorney general, had some thoughts on the repeated attempt to pass another amnesty. You probably won’t find them to your liking, but here they are:

I’d rate it as the biggest mistake of his presidency. How would you rate it?

“The child-king will be very angry after he sees what happens in November.”

There will not be elections in Nov. There will be some emergency that will necessitate martial law.

In many ways Obama is his third term.

That is absurd. On foreign and domestic policy, he is a polar opposite. Taxes. Defense. Creating a favorable business environment. Judges. The list is endless. About the only similarity is immigration.

Oh great, Reagan granted amnesty to the illegals who were here in 83 in exchange for tough immigration laws that the dimrat congress was to put into place. The congress ignored their commitment to the deal making Reagan out to be the sucker in the deal. Just like when Reagan passed the tax cuts, the congress (democrat) was to cut spending. HAH. Not only did they not cut spending, they ramped up spending to the level of money that came in and then some. The dimrat party has been a bunch of dishonorable lying piles of pig crap since I have been following politics in 1970. NEVER can you trust them unless you have a serious anvil over their head and then its iffy. Look at who they brought forth to be their nominee to be president in 08. A complete unknown possibly foreigner communist sympathiser who wants to bring this country to it’s knees. Bitch of it all is that the dims who brought this child to the president are going to pay dearly. Not to the American people but to the Chinese. We owe them so much money that we cannot pay them back, so the dims are in power, but their ultimate boss will be in China.

Perhaps the bill can be named after Reagan who signed an amenesty bill on his watch. Just saying.
Therefore it's OK for Obama to grant amnesty to illegals?...Just saying.

I hope AZ finally gets enough of this crap and seceeds. Apparently Gov Good Hair of Texas doesn’t have the guts to do it. If AZ does I suggest we come up with a password so we can all arm ourselves and head to the AZ borders, all of them, and help them maintain their republic. I claim first dibs on the California side.

I think that Gov Brewer anticipated this. According to what I have read here before, the law was well crafted in anticipation of a challenge. Gov Brewer also removed her snake of an Atty General from fighting off any challenges.

I would say that she has the situation well in hand. She is simply pointing out what a rat the idiot in chief really is.

“Where is the GOP on this? Who is standing With AZ and Brewer? “

That is the big question. The open borders wing of the GOP didn’t fade away when Bush left office. It’s still the dominant position among GOP elites because a lot of the large donors want illegal immigration to continue unopposed. Voters and grassroots activists will stand with AZ and Brewer. GOP officials aren’t going to embrace AZ’s position unless they feel the heat from GOP voters and small donors.

ROTFLOL!

You might be able to fool yourself with thinking that Reagan didn't sign an amnesty bill, (because he had conditions) but the rest of us on this thread are on to you.

"oh please.. At least Bush loves this country!!"

Not enough to secure our borders, not enough to enforce the federal laws on illegal immigration. Sorry that's not love.

Obviously you got lost somewhere in the conversation because never once did I say it was okay for Obama to grant amnesty to illegals.

I guess we have about 6 or 7 solid grounds for impeachment now.

What does armor have to do with not having a water border? If she seceeds she’ll need support. islama boy can take the NG and turn them against the “rebels” from Arizona. Plus, he’ll have McCain on his side. So some patriots will have to stand at the borders to defend her.

Don’t know about bumper stickers. These are just a little 3”x5” decal, but I found this with no effort.

Good for her to respond quickly. I hope our GOP leadership doesnt get mad at her and make her apologize.

She kicked our RAT AG (who is against the law) off the case and has hired her own legal counsel.
