Raleigh, N.C. The state NAACP says the Wake County Board of Education's move away from busing students to help balance socio-economic diversity in the school system is a "public emergency" and that the group won't stop fighting the board's "morally wrong" decision to move toward community-based schools.
"If it is necessary that we be locked up to resist policies that will lock down our children in re-segregated, high-poverty and unconstitutional schools, so be it," state chapter President Rev. William Barber said at a news conference Wednesday.
Barber and three others were arrested Tuesday evening and charged with second-degree trespassing after they interrupted the school board's meeting, locked arms and sang songs.

There are thousands of schools all over the country being consolidated. But, of course, it is racist when it happens in his area. /s
Never satisfied.
IMO, this more than anything has been the downfall of public schools.
Why did they need to gather and hold hands? This guy could block I40 in both directions, all by himself.
I think they are just holding his hands to let him know exactly where they are. Accidents can happen when you hang around with a 500 pound man.
ok, so were is the mass parent protest in favor of neighborhood schools?
You’re spot on. Thomas Sowell has written extensively on the success of Dunbar High School in the District of Columbia, and this before Brown v. Board of Education. (For liberals out there, I’m not arguing for segregation.) Thugs weren’t allowed to foul up the school. Decorum, civility, and hard work were not only expected but demanded by teachers and administrators. The morons so much in evidence in public schools today can sit next to rich kids all they want, but as long as they seek to emulate such vermin as Ludacris they will continue to fail. It is the culture! Isn’t it odd how those pesky Asians are an exception to all this minority nonsense. Even Asians from families with incomes well below Hispanics and Blacks outperform everyone, even rich white kids. According to a study cited by Abigail and Stephan Thernstrom, “Asian-American students now make up one-fifth of all the medical students in the United States, five times their share of the population as a whole.” Asian-Americans aren’t into that circuitous liberal victimology excuse “I can’t succeed because I’m a minority - Since I’m a minority, I can’t succeed.”
