New Mexico candidate suggests securing border with landmines

Tim Mullins, a New Mexico GOP congressional nominee, said in a radio interview last month that placing landmines on the border might be an effective way to secure the border.

Before he won the Republican primary on June 1, Tim Mullins told a correspondent for KNMX radio that the United States could mine the border and put up barbed wire with signs that redirected people to checkpoints, the Associated Press reports.

"We could put land mines along the border. I know it sounds crazy. We could put up signs in 23 different languages if necessary," Mullins said., arguing that the porous state of the border facilitates the easy entry of terrorists into the country.

Mullins, who is facing incumbent Democratic Rep. Ben Ray Luján in the general election in November, told the AP on Monday he doesn't actually think land mines should be installed on the border. "I am not suggesting we do that," he said.

I believe that people crossing the border illegally are criminals.
I think that as many illegals that are here that can be rounded up and shipped out should be.
I believe that if an illlegal confronts a US agent with any force that illegal can be responded to with deadly force. That said using land minds on US soil to secure the border is ASININE..

A couple of million Bouncing Betties pop-up mines filled with fluorescent permanent dye and an extra little kick of an irritant like a sneezing powder.

And then hire some special effects crews to use simulated sounds of explosions, simulated gunfire. We are not exactly dealing with rocket scientist invading our land here.

Great, an American Siegfried Line, its has reached that point. Mine fields, pill boxes, zeroed in artillery, barbed wire, barriers, yeah, lets do it right. Where are we going to get all the man power to support this venture? How are we going to pay for it? LOL. After we do the southern border we can start on the northern one too, that one is even longer and more vulnerable. Want to save America? Have babies. The more babies we have will lessen the tax burden on the future generations. LOL

Bring V Corp home.

How are we going to pay for it?
V Corp is already on the payroll.

You can’t fault his logic. A border is supposed to stop people from crossing someplace without permission. To date we’ve kind of been on the honor system and we know how that’s working.

(I’d be worried if we were trying to keep people in instead of out)

I know one thing. We do need force on the border. We will NEVER stop the invasion by asking or being nice.
