CNN published a story at 9:25 a.m. this morning titled "Haley's path to Christianity leaves some evangelicals uneasy." The story informs readers that Nikki Haley, who was raised a Sikh and converted to Christianity, "still attends Sikh services occasionally with her parents and extended family." Its clearly a trouble-making attempt to gin up controversy among Republicans where there has been almost none, and so was able to find a couple pastors who question whether Haley, the frontrunner in next Tuesday's South Carolina gubernatorial primary runoff, is really a Christian.
At 9:38 a.m., the CNN story was emailed to a colleague by a campaign consultant working for Haley's opponent, Rep. Gresham Barrett.
One strongly suspects this attempt to take the low road wont work, and Haley will crush Barrett in the runoff next week. But does Gresham Barrett, who has had a good reputation and would seem to have a promising political career still ahead of him, really want to go down this path?

“would have been all Bauer except Barrett went to the Citadel and theyre a big Citadel family) and theyre all going with Barrett now.”
Didn’t (Admiral) Sestak go to the Naval Academy? So that would be a good reason for conservatives to vote for him, right? I think you must have been watching too many beauty pageants with shallow contestants deluding you about the rest of women.
It is confusing because, as I understand it, Hindus consider Sikhs to be Hindus, but Sikhs do not. I understand they are similar in many aspects.
BTW I think this whole ‘is she realy XYZ’ is a red herring, what anyone should care about is whether she is going to lead as a conservative both moraly and financially once elected or is she going to pull a Scott Brown, then it doesn’t matter what church or temple she goes to, well other than Religion of Piece(tm) club houses, but I don’t consider the death cult a religion so my statement stands :)
Barrett is a sleazebag scumball that should have resigned last Wed.
Next Tues, Nikki will kick him in the ass and beat him like the dog he is.
Seems to me, unless Barrett is planning on retiring from politics after his loss next week, that he should think long and hard before going down this road. Eventually he'll need votes from the folks he's pissing off now.
Attention all Aiken County area Freepers. There will be a "Rally for the Runoff" and ice cream social this Sunday from 2-4 in The Alley in downtown Aiken. Nikki will be there. I'm not sure about Alvin Greene :-)

Apparently, there are plenty of reasons besides ISSUES for voting for a candidate on our side, too.
Folks who vote for a candidate based on where they went to school are the Alvin Greene/ B. H. Obama voters of our side. LOL
It's really about as shallow as voting based on skin color.
Disgusting, despicable
I’m afraid your in-laws may not be conservatives or not very informed about SC politics. Bauer was their first choice? There is a reason he only received about 12% and Barret only 22% and it’s not entirely because of Palin’s endorsement of Haley.
Bauer was Lt. Governor under Sanford and a thorn in his side, he’s power hungry and he played some nasty games before and during the Sanford debacle. He was not to be trusted. Barrett didn’t fare well because of his vote on the initial TARP vote and he suggested people quit watching Glenn Beck. LOL. I think SC wants new blood and the only person new is Nikki Haley.
Most? Yeah if you add up the other three. She was very close to the 50 +1 she needed to not have a run off.
Haley got 49% and Barrett only got 22% in the primary. That’s why it was suggested he drop out.
Thankfully my second choice (McMaster) is backing Haley.
That should give her a good portion of McMaster’s 17% while Barrett can maybe count on Bauer’s 12%.
I don’t think anyone is the least bit worried about her chances. Bring on the run-off. It would have saved everyone money though but you are correct in only 1 statement so far and that is that this is probably the “real race”. No way a Dem wins.
Conservatives are very bad about tearing ourselves apart. There are those who seek the perfect candidate for them, for their particular values, and nothing else will do. They bash some very good conservatives who are not their candidate. Some encourage third party movements, a sure road to defeat for conservatives.
I suspect many are trolls from the Left attempting to sow dissent among us. Deception and infiltration is a Leftist MO.
I am not talking especially about those this post is addressed to, you just happened to be the first three I read. I am sure there are more I have yet to read.
We just might. She has held elected office as a rep of our state since 2004, re-elected in 2006 and 08. She's been involved in the community since 1998.
Regardless of the comments y'all are making about SC (bible thumping, etc.) you'll see, she will be our next governor. We eat turnips but we didn't just get off the turnip truck. We are looking for honesty and integrity. We just might vote for her if she were a Sikh because we are Christian however, she says she is a Christian and since she's a local I think we have a pretty good idea of who she is. We'll keep some of the good ol' boys and get rid of some others.
The only folks giving us a bad name right now (besides some FR posters) are the democrats that voted for Green oh and those clueless folks who voted for the RINO Graham.
Amen upchuck. Nikki is going to make Barrett wish he hadn’t been in the run-off.

Reminds everyone that Haley's support among evangelicals is soft (which it isn't), while tarring her fellow Pubby and opponent.
All questions she has answered.
I think you know that.
Raising them again and again is trying to use people’s lesser ideas against them. It’s wrong. It’s a sin.
I think you might have taken me wrong, snippy. I really like SC, a great state. I wasn’t putting it down because it is part of the Bible belt. I’m a Bible thumper myself.
Though an Alaskan, I really appreciate the Bible belt. The country would be even worse off it wasn’t for the good old conservative, now-Republican, south. Alaska is conservative too, but not so much on the social issues.
The truth is not a sin.
Thanks.
