North Carolina democrat Rep. Bob Etheridge has physically attacked a student journalist for asking him a question. A video of the incident shows the congressman walking down a Washington, DC sidewalk approaching the camera.

A young man with a microphone greets him, asks him how he's doing, and then asks:

Do you fully support the Obama agenda?

Watch what happens then for yourself:

That would certainly count as an assault in Arizona.

It would count as an assault everywhere, but from the surroundings it looks like Capitol Hill. This would require the intervention of the Speaker of the House to get a prosecution, or even a civil suit.

Man oh man, I don’t care who you are (unless you are a cop trying to arrest me, I suppose) . . . if you grab me by the wrist like that I’m lighting you up.

It’s a good thing the Congressman didn’t have a gun. Good grief. Me thinks the Democrat is a little sensitive with Obama questions. What a dirtbag! It’s hilarious how at the end the Congressman realizes he’s blown it so he pulls the guy in for a photo op! “Here snap a picture!” The only thing he forgot to do is ask for a vote.

Obviously not everyone is disgusted with these self-important, self-serving, arrogant, presumptious politicians posing as "public servants".

The intelligent and wise recognize them for what they are.

But millions of people feel the need to view them as larger-than-life leaders--maybe parent figures--authority figures on whose wisdom and benevolence they can depend. These are the fools who are so dangerous.

Politicians are well aware of this. In fact it's the basis of their careers.

"This will make a perfect ad for anyone running against this thug in the next election."

True. But there is an endless supply of thugs--and, what's worse, a much greater supply of fools eager to elevate them to positions of power.

We might be able to cope with the thugs, but coping with the fools who enable them is practically impossible.

NOTE: I'm NOT defending the jackass Congressman.

But when asked 'who are you', while holding a mic and another guy with a camera I'd tell him 'who' I was. Like 'a college student working on a project'. I didn't hear that. All I heard was something about 'a project'

When Griff Jenkins of FoxNews 'blindsides' some ijit pol on the streets he always leads with exactly, 1) who he is, and 2) for whom he works. That's my only 'complaint' as to what the kid did wrong.

Really, imagine some 'kid' getting in your face with a mic and won't say who he is or what he's doing that for. I wouldn't be exactly 'cooperative' either. (that person could be anyone from anywhere)

Even Mike Wallace would ID himself back in his glory days of actually being a journalist.

The kid did say that. While he was crapping himself as the jackass was illegally restraining him.

Also, during his democrap frenzy of asking "Who are you?", in his drunken stupor he screwed up once and ask, "Who am I?

But, as democrats do, he was only tough because he towered over the little guy and had the size advantage. I'd like to see him grab "Joe the Plumber" that way...once.

The democrats are all drunk, if not on drugs are booze, they're drunk with power, and when they are that intoxicated, they become bullies just like a typical barroom brawler.

Of course, they will always have the advantage, whether its size or numbers or nightsticks...they can't compete in anything one on one...not even life, they need AA to get them by.

The answer to this is to walk away, not to smack the cellphone and then physically restrain the person making the inquiry, first by the arm and then that neck-stranglehold move. If that person follows and continues to harass, then the congressman need only seek the Capitol Hill police officer that is always nearby.

Just imagine if the student had been a girl and the congressman had been republican, white and a member of the tea party. Looks like to me Etheridge is gonna get a pass on this one.
