Congressman Bob Etheridge is walking along a sidewalk in Washington, DC. As he passes he is greeted by someone who asks Do you fully support the Obama agenda? The video posted herewith shows his reaction to the question, and their ensuing exchange. It speaks for itself. What excuse is there fore such conduct from someone who purports to be a representative of the people?
The Democrat Partys name refers to the power of the people. But its more apparent every day that, as in the Peoples Republic of China or the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, the mentality that prevails is that of an unquestionable Party dictatorship. The Congressman certainly has a right to ask who hes talking to before he answers a question (and/or to refuse an answer if he chooses to do so.) But he has no right to lay hands on someone showing nothing more threatening than curiosity and a camera.
Yet he responds as though offended by the very idea that some Joe Blow on the street would dare to question his views. All Americans should be deeply concerned with the arrogance of power this exemplifies. Government of, by and for the people is surely a dead letter when elected Representatives have so far forgotten their dependence on the will of their constituents that they no longer automatically treat everyone who politely approaches them with the respect an employee owes to the people who pay his hire.
Unless he was simply drunk out of his right mind, Etheridges reaction suggests that his party would more appropriately be renamed the Democratic Peoples Republican Party, with all the overtones of socialist dictatorship and violent repression that suggests.

Basically ALL of our Congresscritters (both Houses) are drunk with power.
Regardless of party. Elitist bunch of hacks and putzes if there ever was a group.
HOORAY Alan Keyes! Thanks for naming names and giving this story greater amplification.
I fully expect that someday there will be a video of BO like this. He seems very angry and anger has a way of pouring out unexpectedly.
Who seemed more plastered to you? Etheridge in this clip or Baucus in his famed rant on RATcare?
I’d liked to seen this kid break his arm in self defence.
I’ve seen this before.
Once while the perps fat, pathetic, politically connected wife looked on.
This “congressman” was cruising. This was sexual abuse.
Maybe they found Ted Kennedy’s secret stash of scotch?
I would like to see him try that in my district.
Kid should have taken a step back to put some tension on the arm, then came down hard at the middle of the forearm.
Alan Keyes is a great guy!
Drunk with power or just plain drunk.
Coward

Really true. That's why the Tea Party.
There are two ways to deal with this arrogance:
1) Throw them all out.
2) Cut the money they have under their thumb like no tomorrow, i.e. cut taxes, cut the government.
Definetly agree.
Tax reform.
Repeal 16th & 17th Amendments.
Term Limits on all public offices - regardless of level of government.
Radical spending limits.
Radical excisions of all pork from Congresscritters hands.
Passage of pork or attacjing unrelated items to annual spending bills should be dealt with with automatic removal from office. In other words ... immediate unemployment without recourse.
He’s not drunk with power.
He just likes to say “ver ah yaw papuhs’.
IMHO
