Washington, DC, Jun 14 - U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) released the following statement on the viral video which appeared on the internet today:
“I have seen the video posted on several blogs. I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction and I apologize to all involved. Throughout my many years of service to the people of North Carolina, I have always tried to treat people from all viewpoints with respect. No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does not justify a poor response. I have and I will always work to promote a civil public discourse.”

You are absolutely correct. This was no apology. The congressman simply shifted the blame onto the student for what happened, calling the student’s behavior “intrusive and partisan”.

Thought I’d see what the buzz about this was like on DU...surprisingly several did say he was nuts and should be arrested and charged with assault. But then there was this:
“He was ambushed by freepers and assaulted by them coming up and harassing him. He had every right to know who they were and who they worked for. He should file assault charges and get a warrant over to YouTube to unmask these hooligans and demand they be prosecuted.”
Dang, Freepers again! And in the eyes of DUmpsterites, YouTube is the ultimate arbiter!

Damn straight. I wish I had been in on the "ambush" myself. We need to step up these actions as November approaches.
I saw that this morning and almost hurled my Special K. The next time I see this buttwipe, I hope it’s a perp walk to court to answer assault charges. C’mon kid.......you have a case, now file charges on this overbearing bully!

The verdict I get is to always have multiple cameras at any event where a democrat might show up. You never know when they might get out of hand. The more they are shown to the world, the more people will know just what the left is really like.

You can’t be serious. Did you even WATCH the video? He grabbed the kid’s arm and restrained him, then grabbed the kid’s neck, then held him against himself.
You can’t do that. That is assault.
Because like Helen Thomas, that’s all he’s sorry about. That the video came out. And went viral.
I got a little nervous when he put his arm around the boy. That seemed like a comfortable position for him.
One has to wonder what he was “expecting” to react so harshly. I mean, these guys will talk to anyone...and he flips out over this?

I hope NC-2 provides an appropriate response to this asshole in November.
