Political analysts are predicting a huge win for Republicans in November's congressional elections, but some Democrats believe they have a secret plan to stave off a crushing Republican landslide.
Thats the analysis from Newsweek magazines Andrew Romano, who writes that the Democrats in charge are actually rather confident about getting their fellow Dems elected this year. The reason? They have a plan a plan that they believe will produce much better results on Election Day than anyone expects.
The first element of that plan is the return of Obamas former campaign manager David Plouffe, who left politics after Obamas election win. At the presidents request, he is now communicating on a regular basis with the Democratic National Committee on campaign strategy.
Plouffes top priority is to get many of the 15 million people who voted for the first time in 2008, and largely supported Obama, back to the polls this year. His main weapon is the 13-million-name e-mail list from the Obama campaign now available to the DNC.
The focus on individual elections for Democrats will be keep it local, according to Romano. While Republicans hammer away at national themes targeted at right-wing activists, Democrats plan to focus on bread-and-butter regional concerns like jobs.
Democrats also believe that the emergence of tea party challengers in GOP primaries will help their candidates attract moderate voters. A tea party candidate who wins the primary will drive moderates toward the Democrat in the general election, the thinking goes, and a tea partyer who loses will likely have forced the winning Republican to move further to the right and possibly alienate moderate voters.

Racism.
Class warfare.
Entitlements.
When 50 percent of the population survives on the largess of the fedeal treasury, the GOP is not facng certain victory come November 2010.
plan was released before obama was signed in
they have half the TRAP money to pass around in crucial areas to buy votes
Only 1/3 of the stimulus money has been spent(believe it or not even though it was SO VITAL that we had to pass the stimulus ASAP). What they are doing is holding this money back until the months shortly before the election..they will then start to pour the money into local communities where unemployment is the worst and then they will say “See, we told you it would work, it just takes time..so now that you see our plan is working you must reelect us”. If you know your history, this is a plan that has been used before..
They could declare a national emergency and impose martial
law!
ACORN MAN!
Unless they’re planning on lots of outright cheating (and they might be) they’re going to lose big this year.
Exactly right. We can't be complacent. From what I've been told, they have already lined up their GOTV program with a designated number of individual contacts during the campaign season. OFA is key to the effort, and you can bet stimulu$$$ funds are part of the picture.
local issues like “jobs” aha ha ha ha ha that won’t fly:)

Indeed.
And therein, in that single statistic, lies the most relevant and potent danger to the future our beloved Republic.
I’m really scared.../sarc
By my estimate there are about 50 to 60 million American citizens age 21 years or older who DID NOT VOTE in the 2008 Presidential Elections.
The Tea Parties have already succeeded in arousing some of these millions to get politically involved... And by election time many more millions will vote from this non voting group.
I agree with other posted comments - many who voted for Democrats will in 2008 will not be motivated to show up - regardless of letters of appeal from the Dems.
And most importantly - the Independents who turned out and voted for Obama and the Dems in ‘08 - have already decided that it was a BIG MISTAKE and will vote against the Dems in 2010...
We can win the House and get as many as 44 to 46 Republican Senators...
With a Republican majority in the House (hopefully mostly Conservative) and with a filibuster proof senate - Obama will be a BIG LAME DUCK ...
I think this is a cover story for vote fraud.
However, the increasingly tone deaf Dems might really be counting on the young ‘uns who voted in Obama,,,not realizing that many of them are jobless and have watched him do for two years pretty much the opposite of what he promised. If Obama voters were satisfied with his performance his approval rating would be solid and nobody would be talking about a GOP landslide.
Hole in one.
And if it doesn't look like they can pull that off, this regime will pull a Reich-stag event that will make Alex Jones look like an optimist Polly Anna.

Declare martial law and cancel the election?
The DEMORAT’S Secret Plan is to abolish the 2010 Elections and freeze all current Congress and Senate Critters inplace until OBOZO and SOROS are ready to eliminate them as well!
My ideal outcome for November would be 50 Senate RATs, 50 Pubbies, RATs in control but cannot pass anything. House 218 RATs, 217 Pubbies - same situation. In 2012, Hussein is gone and we clean up both houses and get about fixing the country. Gaining control of one or both houses now, would make us share the blame of the RATs going in to 2012.
In 2012, we need to be able to fully repeal deathcare along with lots of others things, Christie style. None that that can happen with Hussein in power anyway - we just need to stop the bleeding, then fix the root cause in 2012.
>>>This year, careful planning, internal GOP conflict, an improving economic climate, and yet-to-be-introduced technologies have the potential to limit Democratic losses to less-than-catastrophic proportions. <<<<
Yet-to-be introduced technologies? WTF?
