....The Mexican government uses its vast military and police forces to keep its citizens intimidated and compliant. They never protest at their capitol or government offices, but do protest daily in front of the United States Embassy. The U.S. Embassy looks like a strongly reinforced fortress and during most protests the Mexican military surrounds the block with their men standing shoulder to shoulder in full riot gear to protect the Embassy. These protests are never shown on U.S. or Mexican TV. There is a large public park across the street where they do their protesting. Anything can cause a protest such as proposed law changes in California or Texas.....

Much of the world seems to see America as a pushover. Heaven help them the day we no longer are.

I look at Mexico the same way I do Venezuela only on our border. They are not our friends.

Let’s adopt Mexican immigration laws and then let them try to yelp.

Living next to Mexico is like living with a lazy, surly deadbeat twentysomthing who refuses to get a job and grow up.

Your paragraph has nothing to do with the story at the link.

I am an American currently living and working in Saltillo Mexico. I too have an FM3, however I did not have the difficulty getting the FM3 that the writer had. I simply needed a letter from my company, signed, notarized and apostilled plus a copy of my passport.

My FM3 is good only for one year at a time. I have had to renew it each year.

Interesting article.

We should adopt the same Mexican laws especially on protesting. Not a citizen, then shut your mouth, behave yourself or take your sorry @$$ home !

I often wonder if some of the anecdotal stories we see and hear are true or exaggerated to promote a particular point of view, and I think we have to be careful to not buy them too easily for it ends up damaging our own cause.

Having said that can you shed more light on your experience vs that in the story? Do you think the other story was made up? Does the experience vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. In other words, what is the truth regarding this matter?

"Your paragraph has nothing to do with the story at the link."

The poster's paragraph is a direct copy & paste of the last paragraph of the "story at the link."
