Former presidential candidate McCain battling for his political life against GOP conservative
A serious re-election fight wasn't what Republican John McCain expected when he returned to the Senate after losing the presidency.
But the four-term senator is battling for his political life in a race that embodies the volatility of an unpredictable election year. He's facing former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, a fellow Republican pushing him farther to the right as GOP voters demand conservative purity in their candidates and punish those with ties to the Washington establishment.
Two longtime Senate incumbents have fallen

Those evil conservatives and their purity tests!!
Oh wait...I got an email from MoveOn.org a few weeks ago asking me to send them money to help defeat an incumbent Democrat in a primary race that had DARED to go up against Obama on the nationalization of health care insurance (of course, they called it Health Care Reform).
I guess both sides now have a purity test.
The worst possible explanatio for him to run again is to save the seat until his daughter is ready to hold the office. That would also explain why the family needs to not spend any of their money, so that it could be saved for her future political campaigns. Sadness passed down to the next generation.
The only question about McCain is how fast and how often can he lie about his myriad of left wing positions.
Oh, so now it’s a “Fierce Fight!” Funny, just a few weeks ago they were dismissing Hayworth.
Totally agree.
Notice how carefully ABC avoids identifying any of the issues—from amnesty to cap and trade to campaign finance reform—by which the voters are unhappy.
He could always call in Anita Dunn to help.
When is this damn primary anyway??????
McCain is a consummate, ah liberal in Pubbie clothing. He can hide and blend and continue to follow his one goal ... perpetuate himself in office.
To paraphrase Gen. Douglas MacArthur ... “... I now close my military career and just fade away ...”
John, thank you for your service ... now follow another great generals advice and just fade away!
Why didn't he jump up to fight an ILLEGAL ALIEN USURPER?

I think JD plans to have a TV blitz the last few weeks of the campaign. He was on the Mark Levin Show last week and said he hoped to raise another million dollars for TV ads, and that early voting for the August 24th primary started in July.
That’s probably the most logical strategy to combat Juan’s millions, save up and do most of his ads a few weeks before August 24. I think it’ll be early August before we have a real sense of how this vote might go.
Anyone who would call a score of incarnate devils “my good friends” needs to be kick into the sewer.
with luck,
bipartisan john will be gone!
The shuffleboard calleth, Mr. McCain. The shuffleboard calleth...

Anyone that wants to beat McCain should take his excerpts form his autobiography - "I don't follow the rules." "I make others miserable because I am spoiled." etc. etc. then ask the question Is this really what you want in the person representing AZ? He tells you what he is - believe him!! Vote for someone that cares for your opinion...JDH.
Reminds me of the political legend about radical feminist Bella Abzug....an incumbent with a well-oiled machine, she had armies of people making calls......some got as many as four calls.
But the tactic backfired----she lost---people voted against her b/c she was so persistent.
