Former presidential candidate McCain battling for his political life against GOP conservative
A serious re-election fight wasn't what Republican John McCain expected when he returned to the Senate after losing the presidency.
But the four-term senator is battling for his political life in a race that embodies the volatility of an unpredictable election year. He's facing former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, a fellow Republican pushing him farther to the right as GOP voters demand conservative purity in their candidates and punish those with ties to the Washington establishment.
Two longtime Senate incumbents have fallen

I sure hope he falls.
I was going to say if his competitor is more conservative than he, but that’s a given, isn’t it, since it’s not Romney.
It happened in MA with Brown......
Most of us ain't buyin' what you're shoveling.
Sabe@Q, McCain was a Congressman for at least one term before becoming a Senator. He came to the United States government in 1982. He has been in Washington, D.C. for 28 years. He has had his chance at change.
I’m not sure if you know the names in that document I linked you to, but those are some of the worst people on the planet, not just our nation. George Soros is a global pariah. He has hated the United States for decades. John didn’t have a problem at all joining him in his efforts.
No, you’re not getting it Sabe@Q. This (John McCain) is a very bad man. He is acting like he gets it right now because he’s up for re-election. He does that every six years, and returns to being a very bad Senator as soon as he has been re-elected.
Later Sabe@q.
At best you are a naive RINO - at worst you are a traitor and extraordinarily stupid.
Obama wasn’t a well known commodity then. I was really hoping he’d make an okay Pres because I knew this Country had a lot of serious issues in front of it.
I felt McCain would of handled them better.
Monday morning quarterbacking doesn’t help any.
That nothing to fear quote is linked in the information I linked you to earlier. There are several good links in there, and you can watch him say it yourself.
It was about October of 2008.
And yet Palin endorsed him. And you have Palin for Pres in your tagline.
thanks I’ll take a look at it.
I guess it matters what “fear” really means. Apprehension? Fright?
Sheeesh, what a marooon!
Please don’t go to that list and find every excuse in the book, to think that none of it matters. It matters.
"I have to tell you, [Obama] is a decent person, a person that you
do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States."
U.S. SEN. JOHN MCCAIN, 10 OCT. 2008
Again they both were US Senators together and decorum is expected in their setting.
"Decorum"?! LOL. McCain endorsed Obama and you have the nerve to defend the RINO traitor McCain by dismissing his treasonous words as mere "decorum"?
"I think the Democratic Party is a fine party, and I have
no problems with it, in their views and their philosophy."
U.S. SEN. JOHN MCCAIN, 02 APR. 2004
The same goes for you, sarabaracuda.
See 191 and 192 directly above.
Those supporting RINO McCain knowing all he’s done are simply idiots. McCain is a treacherous liar who sides with the left on issues that are destructive to our liberty, ie, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman, TARP, etc.
Freep him and the RINO he rode in on! And his little dog Lindseed too.
He's pulled an end-around Arlen Spector. McCain can run as a Republican and still win the GOP primary with democrat votes!
That's wrong on all counts!
Yes it is onyx, but the man has no principles at all so he sees nothing wrong with it. He is devoid of any sense of what is honorable and what is not. It’s always been win at any cost with him.
You’re 1-percenter mentality is shining through. It will get you nowhere in the world of politics. And for the last time, McCain is not some flaming liberal but a moderate conservative.
Did it ever occur to you that it may be Hayworth who is the real problem and that is why Sarah, and Fred, and Gov. Brewer are supporting McCain. Hayworth will lose because he is the lesser candidate. Period.
I hope JD gets enough money to run ads linking Arlen and John together - they’re one in the same!
Two desperate incumbents with no party loyalty. Democrats gave Arlen the boot after voting against him as a Republican.
Will the stupid democrats in AZ do the same? I keep hearing that JD is the easier one to beat in the general, so MAYBE the open primary has a chance to backfire on McCain if JD can link Arlen with McCain in a show of desperation.
It occured to us, but we rejected it because we know McCain. We’ve heard him call his constituants names, we’ve been called racists by him for trying to defend ourselves, we’ve watched his underhanded dealings for years. I personally heard one woman ask him a questions and he unloaded on her with that vicious temper of his and tried to make her look like a food. Fortunately most of us knew her. So, no, Sarah, Fred and others are backing him because like McCain they are easily bought.
