*** Totally unexpected by me. An audience member sings a different version of the National Anthem. It was very good. *** Yes, it was very good. But it's not a 'different version'.
What he sang was the last (4th) 'Stanza' (verse) of the Star Spangled Banner
O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And IMHO that 'verse' is why the commieRATS want to change our National Anthem to something else. As they KNOW that 'very religious verse' is there and are afraid that people will someday soon find out it's there. Like you just did (no offense meant.)
I don't know when they stopped teaching it, prolly with the rise of Teacher's Unions, but way back in the Stone Age, the mid 1950's :-) we sang that verse in Elementary School. Today there'd be lawsuits flying for even having a printed copy of the complete song in the classroom.

Wow, I’m stunned. What a beautiful voice he has! I have NEVER heard anyone sing anything but the 1st verse.
Thanks for posting all verses....bookmarked.

You were a victim of the socialists running the Teacher's Unions.
But as to that last verse, through Google, there's some Military Choirs, and other Choirs, that can be found that sing the whole song. And when they get to that 'stanza' I still choke up, it is so stunningly beautiful sounding. And I'm almost 62 :-)
But yes, that's why they want it buried and forgotten. All that talk about it being not singable and having three octaves is hogwash.

I was fortunate enough to have been taught the first and last verse in school, but I thought there were only three verses. Thanks for the other one.

Thanks for that and the heads up on googling. I’m going to do it right now (I got all choked up when that Marine sang the last verse). =)

I wish he would. But I don’t think the networks would allow the last verse to be broadcast.
