"....Unlike the case of the missing and presumed dead American teenager some five years to the day of the murder of Flores-Ramirez, there is a body, a crime scene, a murder weapon, and a lot of forensic evidence that will likely link the victim's murder to her killer, currently assumed to be Van der Sloot.
If convicted, this smug, narcissistic, sociopathic killer will not be afforded any of the considerations he was given in Aruba. His arrogance and his lack of anger management skills have all contributed to his now facing charges of murdering the daughter of an extremely well known, and well wired political and public figure in Peru. The whole country will be watching and, perhaps like O.J. Simpson before him, he will be tried for one crime in criminal court but he will be convicted for multiple crimes in the more important court of public opinion.
The man who said he never lost a night's sleep over Holloway's disappearance and assumed death may now find reason to consider everything he's done over the past five years.
How does someone do these things?
Many know that teenagers can show the characteristics of the sociopath, psychopath or antisocial personality, traits that allow someone to ignore the pain and needs of others while their only concerns in life center around meeting their own needs, and keeping themselves stimulated while they live on the edge of life and society. We know that Van der Sloot was raised in a privileged home where he was treated as more than special.
While it was illegal to gamble in a casino in Aruba if you were younger than 18, the FBI determined that his parents had set him up with a $50,000 line of credit when he was but 17, the age that he met Natalee Holloway in a local casino. Nature and nurture form the personality of an individual, and in Van der Sloot's case, all appear to have formed the monster many now believe him to be.......

As far as reporting it.... well, I think that we will see the press scraping for ANYTHING to report, and I suspect that soon the Peruvian public may be helping out that poor ol' foreign press, ya know??
I suspect that Peru doesn't yet realize that this will be reported nightly, even hourly, in the USA, Aruba, Holland, etc. for quite some long long long time.
I agree. I think if he’s found guilty he’ll be locked away forever.
Some pundit on tv said Peru’s justice system is very slow. It may take two or more years for vanderSloot to come to trial. So we may be hearing and seeing this case every night for the next 2 plus years.
This same pundit also said that it would be highly unlikely for Peru to turn him over to the U.S. for trial on fraud and extortion before trying him for the murder; Peru doesn’t trust that it would get him back.
Even if, God forbid, Peru does not convict him, he will have had two or more years in a gawd-awful prison he won’t be too happy in, and the U.S. will get a crack at trying him on those lesser charges. I’m hoping that Peru does convict him. It doesn’t really matter if he comes to the U.S. to face charges. A very long, possibly life sentence, in a Peruvian prison is good enough punishment overall for all the evil he has wrought.
My sister worked in a Juvenile Detention Center where the worst offenders were held. When she first went to work there, a real nice polite young man would always offer to help her carry things and said Mam and Sir to everyone. She asked what the nice young man was doing in there with all the gang banger thugs and was told he murdered his parents, buried them in the back yard and held a wild pool party at his house the same night.

After a while, arubagirl stopped posting very much at RU - I don't recall what happenned, but evidentally she didn't like some of the postings made to her.
I'm quite curious whether she is posting anywhere nowadays.

Actually I’m glad that the FBI did not snatch him up and take him to the USA.
Joran will get the kind of justice he deserves in Peru.
In the US, it would have been another circus like the OJ trial.

Sometimes I wonder how much of this relates to a gambling problem. I really wish the Aruban officials had found and interviewed the man in the casino video, the one next to Joran who spoke to Natalee when she was with her friends and Joran was still playing.
For all we know that very brief conversation was a signal from a trafficker to Joran that, "This is the one I want."
One could easily imagine, with enough gambling losses, that a potential human trafficking deal would not be that difficult to instigate... and it would look pretty appealing to someone with low scruples such as Joran. A young boy, weak-minded and with a huge debt to pay may very well have been lured into such a deal to pay gambling debt.
The trafficking of Thai women could also have led back to high-stakes money to fulfill his gambling needs. With any luck, he will be weakened enough without Paulus around that the truth may escape him yet. I sure hope so, for the sake of Natalee's family. "

Hello old FRiends - I realize some of you are already participating in the Drew Peterson and Juron Van der Sloot threads - and it reminded me of all the brain-storming we shared on the ANS threads.
For me, it does offer a small respite from the punishing political discourse.
The cases are similar in that two lives were taken;
Daniel & Anna Nicole (Howard Stern)
Kathleen Savio and Stacey Peterson (Drew Peterson)
Natalee Holloway & Stephany Ramirez (Joran Van der Sloot)

Nice to hear from you. :) Maybe there will be yet justice for Daniel and ANS and the others. It took a while for it to catch up with OJ - also two lives taken - but now he is in prison.
