George W Bush joins Facebook
FACEBOOK has a new member - former US president George W Bush.
Bush joined the fast-growing social network yesterday and his profile page, facebook.com/georgewbush, attracted more than 2,000 fans within a few hours.
The first post on the page touted Bush's accomplishments since leaving office in January 2009.
"President Bush has remained active," it said.
"He has visited 20 states and 8 countries; given over 65 speeches; launched the George W Bush Presidential Center; participated in 4 policy conferences through The Bush Institute; finished the first draft of his memoir, Decision Points; and partnered with (former) President (Bill) Clinton to establish the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund."
The next post touted the memoir written by former first lady Laura Bush, Spoken from the Heart, noting that it was number one on The New York Times bestseller list for the third consecutive week.

Nothing against W generally or for posting on Facebook, but I just realized what I so don’t like about the platform; it encourages and propagates those annual Christmas form letters—updated year-round.
Just ‘Liked’ his page. Some of the comments are disgusting, but it’s the internet...
A couple of weeks ago I figured out how to block all Farmville and Mafia Wars from appearing on my page, man did that make my day.

Well, I happen to love Facebook! I’ve been on there just about a year and I have found and been found. It’s fun to catch up with friends and relatives I haven’t seen for years and years. I don’t do Farmville or any of the other things on there.
Maybe the former President is lonely!!

I do too. I move around a lot in the Navy and I keep all my current contact info on my FB account. I only approve family members and people who I am actually friends with as "friends" so I'm not concerned with security issues. I block all that farmville and mafia wars stuff so that doesn't really bug me. I don't post any comments or pics that I'd regret later.
All in all, if used properly, FB is a pretty good thing.
He has a book coming I heard someplace.
