President Obama intends to meet with Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Thursday, a White House official told FoxNews.com, after criticism mounted over the president's refusal to meet her while she is in Washington this week.
Brewer had requested a face-to-face meeting with Obama and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, the former Arizona governor, as tensions rise between his administration and the Grand Canyon State over its controversial law clamping down on illegal immigrants.
White House spokesman Adam Abrams had said over the weekend that Obama's schedule "doesn't allow for a meeting" with Brewer but added that the president "does intend to sit down with the governor in the future."
The apparent snub came after Justice Department officials told Arizona's attorney general and aides to the governor Friday that the federal government has serious reservations about the state's new immigration law.

Gov. Brewer,
No matter what 0bama says, threatens, promises or promulgates, know these three words:
Don’t. Back. Down.
And after the meeting, she needs to run to the nearest microphone and expose exactly what he said or implied. I’ve been praying for men to stand up to B.O. Seems my prayers have been misguided, for it’s WOMEN who are taking him to the woodshed.
Yes!!! Back in the days of the Falklands war I laughed myself dizzy when the descendants of Spanish colonizers were condemning the Brits as... what else? colonizers!
Best of all--the absurdity never dawned on our IQ challenged "journalists".
I hope she gives him s swift kick where it hurts.
I agree with everthing you say. The ‘normal’ arrangement(signed) made for such seetings is NO recording and agree to release a ‘joint ‘ statement only. obama is a chicago politican, he knows how to play dirty.
I hope that they drag in Holder to explain the part or parts of the AZ law that produces “serious reservations” - we all would like to know.
We are so screwed, but real hope may be on the way in November - a least the votes to stop the Obamanation agenda.
Will she still have the guts after he gives her the evil-eye
and threats.
It will be interesting what she says after the meeting.
Let’s hope she stands strong.
He is eager to meet with our enemies, without precondition, and apologize and grovel before them; but he is afraid to meet with a strong republican governor.
nobama will hand her his resignation and then beg forgiveness. I can dream...can’t I?
If you want to dream, let's do it right:
1. Dopey Joe Biden resigns for mental health reasons;
2. Zerobama realizes that his only hope for preventing Brewer from becoming a MAJOR powerhouse for the GOP is to entice her to join his administration, so he names her as VP to fill the vacancy brought on by Dopey Joe's resignation.
3. Then, sometime AFTER January 2011, Zerobama -- beseiged by scandals that make Nixon look like an alterboy -- resigns and Brewer becomes President. Since there is less than half of the current term remaining, she is free to run for election to the office twice.
Jan is nobody’s fool. She knows that none of these Obama stooges read the bill, or even CARE about the contents of the bill. Obama will have to go on record with Jan, and that will help expose his pro-illegal immigration agenda.
” Now he’s got TWO (count them) agenda items on Thursday. What’s an overloaded Marxist president to do? Plus, he’s gotta manage the oil spill. Geeze, there may not be time for bball or golf on Thursday. Hey nobama, we all appreciate the daily sacrifices you’re making.
Asswipe! “
LOL...NAILED it.
I sure do like the way the AZ gov is handling herself, she needs to continue to tell Bambi to go shove it.
She knows Obama is her sworn enemy.
That it's not 100% who know doesn't say much about the country's intellectual capacity.
I read the fine print ;-)
:-)
Governor Brewer is going to kick Obama’s butt today and he doesn’t want the press and the American people to see and hear it! Totally closed to the press!
******
Asked what she would say to the president if he told her that Justice plans to try an block the law, Brewer indicated that she’s unlikely to back down.
“I would say, well, ‘we’ll meet you in court,’ “ Brewer said. “I have a pretty good record of winning in court.”
For Obama, the meeting with Brewer — which the White House says will be totally closed to the press — offers another chance to advocate for the comprehensive immigration changes he says are painfully necessary.
But it’s also a reminder of the potential power of the issue as the nation approaches the midterm elections this fall. Even if the president had wanted to avoid a meeting with the governor, it would have been difficult politically.
