"Do you support Flag buring too?!"

I remember when this amendment was catching steam during Bush I in the early 90's. I was still in the Marine Corps at the time. I was against it then. Almost all amendments do one of two things. Recognizes or gives the citizens more freedoms or limits the governments powers. This amendment would limit the freedoms of the citizens.

The only other amendment I can think of that did this was the 18th amendment (prohibition amendment). We all know how that turned out and it was repealed.

I’m with you.

Burning of a flag is absolutely a form of free speech. That is what our First Amendment protects.

I would not do it, nor would I encourage it.

But it cannot be outlawed, and our freedoms not be eroded.

Our Federal government is out of control.

We have but one peaceful chance to correct it, and that is on November 2, 2010, five months from tomorrow.

If we do not take back Congress from the Communist Democrat Party on that day, this will not end well.

So, work like your future and your family’s future depends on it.

Because it does.

Thanks! My church does this every Sunday, because we want to instill a reverential respect, not only for our country (in spite of 0bama & the secular atheist humanists) but also a reverential respect & obedience to our Christian faith and the Word of God. I attend a King James Only, Bible preaching & teaching Baptist Church. Actually there are many like this throughout the U.S. with similar values & practices.

We do that, too. Usually have some of the youth group holding the flags and Bible, and leading each pledge. I love it.

Really? Wasn’t the flag in and of itself a POLITICAL STATEMENT, signifying our independence from Great Britain?

Amen to that. I love saying the pledges as well. In fact now when if I attend other churches where they do not do that, it feels awfully strange.

I went to combat for the ideas that flag espouses, so yeah I do love that flag and screw you for questioning my love of the flag. Tearing down someone's private property IMO does not show reverence or love for the flag. Respecting the ideas of freedom, liberty, personal property and respecting someone else's rights shows fealty and devotion to that flag.

Not sure if you are aware of the person who created the pledge of allegiance. His name is Francis Bellamy. He was a preacher who in today's vernacular would be classified as one of these preachers of social justice. He was a Christian socialist.

Don't get me wrong, I like the pledge of allegiance. I just think that people should know about it's author. I myself prefer the American Creed. I think it actually espouses what we are about better:

I'm the one that is saying let the person do what he wants with his flag and you are making threats to a person who would fly a flag upside down and you tell me to leave the flag alone? I think you should take your own advice. That's been my advice all along. Leave the flag (and the person flying it) alone.
