Have not heard of that being done for Years. Nice too know some churches still hold to good Traditions.

Flying the US flag upside down is the same as being a traitor to me. Leave the flag out of your selfish, petty political agendas. The Flag is above f*ckin politics a**holes!

How would we know if you’re in distress if you fly that one upside down?

that our homeland have been turn upside down by Obama and his thugs. We're witnessing the whiteman's comeuppance- his capitalism, his western ways, more importantly the taking off of the boot from the neck of 'colored' people everywhere (even Iran and N. Korea, muchless Mexico).
From this day forward, I shall eschew my American identity and instead, withdraw into my Irish-American igloo to further the 'tribalism' that passes for currency today.
To witness the first black president's racialness was a bit un-nerving. As one who didn't vote for him, I was hoping he might be beyond this sort of thing and that we might, as a nation, continue to heal wounds that have been 'healing' since the sixties- if not before. But no, he's taken out the sutures at every opportunity and looks forward to the infection that surely will follow. Arizona's "misguidedness" was the last clue, Cambridges' police "stupidity" was the first.
"Kill Whitey!", was funny in the movie Black Sheep. It isn't funny anymore. It can't be funny in Obama's America because everything 'white people' stand for is about to be dismantled. White people and the Constitution they rode in on are about to be thrown to the curb. A couple more 'wise latinas' on the bench and it's a done deal.
Is this a racist post? Well, yes, and no. You see, America = white/western/European values and as such, is bad. Logically, then, non-white/eastern/non-European values must be good. And that's where we find ourselves, up against a wall with the MFM applying the blindfolds.
This being Memorial Day, I'd like to take a moment to thank those who stepped on a mine, got shot in the face, dove on a grenade, manned a gun on a plane that went down, etc. I'd like to thank them for the freedom I enjoy today at the expense of their lives. I'd like them to know that I, too, will do whatever is necessary to preserve freedom, and that their sacrifice was not in vain. They fought and died to protect Lady Liberty and the freedom she encompasses. That's a hill worth dying on.

Flying the US flag upside down is the same as being a traitor to me.To some, the flag is just as important as it is to you. But, they view the attacks on America as being more than just petty political skirmishes. In fact, they see our country under attack from within as no-less than an attack from without.
Most people here love the flag, and that for which it stands, and would only turn it up-side down to signal the distress that eminates from Washington, D.C. For them it is not a 'political' statement but a warning to other Americans.

This is a misuse of the signal. Good attention grabber though. The flag flying upside down is a notice of need for help in distress, correct?
I have also understood it to be a symbol for the country being in distress as this flag is flying.
The part about it being disrespectful to our troops I don't buy.
I'm OK with the display.

I have been flying only the Gadsen “Don’t tread on me” flag for the past year. I’ll bring out the stars and Stripes again when that Marxist and his Chicago thug cohorts are out of power.

There is a perfect legitimate reason for flying the flag upside down. On a ship, flying the flag upside is the universal signal of distress. People doing it on land are trying to convey the same intention. As a retired Marine, I really have no problem with this.
To: Old Teufel Hunden
I don’t have any problem with it either. It just strikes me as being a little overDramatic.

Yes, I personally would not do it. But I can't see calling the people who do it traitors to America. It's just their way of showing their anger and frustration with how the country is going. Maybe I'll fly my flag bunting upside down if I can figure out how to do it.... : )
To: Old Teufel Hunden
I don't think it is "necessary" to fly the USA flag up-side-down. If my wife has had a heart attack and I need help, maybe ... as an "immediate distress signal" ... but to do this as a "political statement?" Not for me. At my house, I have 7 flags I fly. The flag I fly depends on the tenor of my blog. The neighbors see the flag and wonder what I've posted that would cause "that" flag to go up. So they read the blog. My goal is to get 10 more CONSERVATIVE votes in the next election. 2 lib votes I am working on are right across the street from me! Every day, I make a statement to those folks. I only fly the USA flag on Holidays and Special Days. Yesterday, the USA Flag flew with a mourning ribbon. Today I'm flying the Gadsden Flag, and tomorrow the 1st Navy Union Jack. If you want to "protest" ... pick a patriot flag, it makes a statement, they are beautiful flags, and it makes flying the USA flag, the proper way, even more respectful. But, fly it any way you want, burn it if you want ... none of my business. Just don't tell me how to fly it or that I cannot fly it!

Our true “country”.
This is not our home. Actually, the whole world is “behind enemy lines” and we’re spies, trying to undermine the enemy’s kingdom.

Using the Flag to make a political statement is not the same as flyng it upside down to signify immediate and acute distress to passing ships.
Any Flag on my block flying upside down would not be there long. Don’t do it.

Using the US Flag to make political statements cheapens it and insults the memory of those who died for what it stands for.

Have you read my posts? I said I would not do it, but I'm not personally offended by it. And what are you saying? Are you going to rip it down? Are you going to destroy someones personal property? Is that what conservatism teaches?
To: Old Teufel Hunden
The US Flag is ABOVE politics. Do you support Flag buring too?! Bullshit! And yes, I would “take care” of any flag misused near my home.

This would get you shot where I live. This is, in my view, a very dire time for this nation. It is not just about political differences anymore.

As a retired Marine, it does not bother me if someone burns a flag. I love that flag. However, I did not serve and fight for this country to see it's citizens live in fear from their fellow citizens or the government for wanting to express how they feel. That is counter to everything that our founders and I believe.
By your statements, you must think it was okay for Acorn to be out in front of a private citizen's home protesting with the intent of breaking him to their will. This country was founded upon the principles of liberty, personal responsibility and private property. By your statements, you don't believe this. The hardest thing about freedom is to allow others to do and express themselves as they please though it may not agree with you.
